Things that soothe PHN are gabapentin. SJW also soothes and heals PHN. Why, because they heal and regenerate nerves.
Stress (higher cortisol levels) causes nerves, among other aspects of the body, to atrophy. herpes is a stress on the nervous system (esp the respective nerves).
HSV damages and is a stress on nerves.
HSV is an inflammatory nervous system disease.
Just to go further... When people have an outbreak, it's hot, burning and uncomfortable. That's inflammation and herpes is coming from the nerves...
Viral encephalitis is the inflammation of the nervous system and herpes is one cause of that.
Heartless, I don't want to be harsh because we are all in this together. But there are far worse things in life than having herpes. If you want to feel sorry for yourself and mope for the rest of your life, that is your choice. But life is precious and for all intents and purposes, you are healthy and there is nothing stopping you from living a full, happy and productive life.
After reading countless posts from different people on here, i'm convinced that people who are generally pessimistic and have a negative attitude after being diagnosed with herpes were also pessimistic and negative prior to contracting herpes.
It sucks that we have this, but the choices we make from here on reflect our true character. Rise above the stigma. I know i'm trying
I think there are men out there who do want real relationships, they're just hard to find. Add herpes into the mix and it's nearly impossible. I just avoid having a social life now so that I don't run the risk of "meeting someone" and then having to distance myself from them b/c I have this virus.
