  1. A few weeks ago I had a raw spot on my vagina from having so much sex with my boyfriend. A day passed and I had what looked like a pimple pop up in the spot where I was raw. A few more popped up in random places around my vagina and one on my labia. I didn't think it was herpes because it wasn't painful unless it was rubbing against my underwear. I decided to use my bactroban ointment that I have previously used for an old staph infection I had in my arm pit months ago. It basically healed the pimples over night. I went to the local clinic and had a pap done and they were mostly healed by then and the doctor told me it wasn't herpes. I was very relieved. My pap just came back abnormal and I now have scheduled another appointment for them to do a procedure to scrape my cells to check for cancer. A few days ago I had something in the same spot where I was once rubbed raw pop up again. But this time it looked completely different. I have had cold sores on my lip before and that's what it looked like except it was down below. Again this only hurt if my underwear rubbed against it. I've tried the ointment again but it doesn't seem to help this time. I'm uploading two pictures one before the blisters popped and one after. Can someone please give me your opinion. I have read so many articles about how a genital sore could look like herpes but end up being something else and I'm praying that's the case. As as you can see in the second photo I have scarring from the pimples that popped up a few weeks ago.
  2. Hi, I recently had protected anal sex with a guy last Dec 22, and after that I only felt pain in my anus. Then I feel flu-like symptoms last Dec. 27 up until now. It like my flu keeps coming around. I felt pain on my buttocks that day that's why I check my anus through the mirror and saw these red patches with white thing like ulcer around it. Then I also check my penis and saw this sores around it, it's my first time to notice it since I always clean it when taking a bath. I thought that my sex partner just bit it that's why it get sores. Please help me! Here's the folder link: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1MOyrGNKUNDljxmn2dXd_MfHEKWnMRL9Y
  3. I know I have made a few threads here asking for advice, but this will be a lot more through and to the point. I can confirm that I have been diagnosed with HSV1, and this was through a blood test and not a swab and antibodies were found. I was told there was no active breakout at the time, so it was hard to now where exactly on my body I contracted it. I will say that since then I have for sure experienced a few cold sores orally (mostly right above my lip, semi close to my left nostril. The most recent one was around four weeks ago and went though the obvious tell tale signs of sore. It popped up, it got red, it filled with fluid. It crusted over and flaked off. I figured that it was no big deal, most people have it and don’t know and it’s fairly easy to manage. However, around a week ago I experienced swelling on my genitals, specifically right in the middle of my circumcised frenulum area. I woke up to it feeling a burning sensation and noticed it was red, swollen and actually slightly hard to the touch although no fluid was present. It remained swollen and reddened and with a burning sensation that would sting some after it was messed with (when I was inspecting it or if I tried to masturbate which I had to avoid) for like an entire week, up until now were it still slightly burns. But it reduced in swolleness fairly quickly even though it’s still a bit red but not like a bump. It has never gotten any fluid in it, it has never crusted over and it never ulcerated. There have been no cuts or open sores or fluid or scanning. Just swelling and a stinging pain. However I can’t imagine anything else it could be. It frustrates me that I know with no fluid present, seeing a doctor would be of normal help. I am not sure if I could have already had it dormant and it was just a flare up and that’s why it didn’t have the usual symptoms, or if I spread it from touch and it was still mild due to antibodies. This next part may seem like too much information, but I think it illustrates how I could have transmitted it to myself OR other factors that could help determine if it is something else. While I had my upper lip cold sore still healing (two weeks in, it was already scabbed) I remember one time I was masturbating and did brush/scratch my face off before getting back to the act. This would have allowed contact pretty much right on the area that swelled up. But I also had a fair but to drink and was a little rough on myself for a while so am wondering if it could have just been an injury due to prolonged friction/force to the area. I do also want to add that I did see a flea on my sofa and had just visited my grandparents who do have a flea problem, and also had a couple of bites form ether that or a mosquito on my thigh from around then. the most frustrating part of all of this is that there is a burning, red, swollen patch of skin that doesn’t seem to have the typical symptoms of HSV in that in never had any fluid present, never had any open sores, and never scabbed or crusted. It did however swell up around the time I had an active oral sore (even if healing a few weeks in) and is still present in some form. I do not know if using antibiotic ointment like I did or trying triamcinolone acetonide would reduce the likelihood of fluid or crusting but from what I’ve read it would not. I did not take pictures as those are seldom helpful, but hopefully I can get some insight into the likelihood of having both OHSV1 and GHSV1, and the possibility that I spread it to myself.
  4. Hi Guys, Soooo where to begin (sigh) I have been scaling forums and looking into this new reality of living with GHSV, (even saying the word Herpes just makes me wince with shame and a lump in my throat). This is also my first time posting on any type of internet forum. And I've decided to take the plunge, in the hope of finding some inner peace with my diagnosis. Maybe putting it all into words rather than having the story keep circulating in my brain will also help?? So here goes.... I recently moved to another country (I've done this a few times previously), so that in itself is not as daunting to me as it may seem. I'm living alone and I decided to download the usual dating apps, but I wasn't looking to rush into anything or find any drama (that part didn't turn out so good). I started talking with someone and the conversation was going on for around one week, before we decided to meet each other. We met for cocktails and the evening was nice, we were both getting tipsy, so we decided to go and meet my dates friends and carry on drinking into the night. The end of the night arrived and we took a taxi back to my place and I think you can fill in the blanks on this part. The next morning, I took a trip to the bathroom and noticed (what I believed to be) a singular pimple on my penis. I didn't think too much about it and went back to bed. My date left a few hours later and everything was OK. We text and kept in contact and started talking regularly. A few days later and the pimple was now looking more like an ulcer and I immediately started to get that sinking paranoid feeling. I'm fortunate enough that I have a really strong and open relationship with my parents, so I called them and explained my concerns. Their advice, to make an appointment at a medical centre as soon as possible. I found a local sexual health clinic and off I went. The doctor took a look at my singular lesion and diagnosed as folliculitis, the relief I felt at that time was just liberating. He gave me antibiotics and said it should clear in a few days and sent me on my way. A week later and after completing the antibiotics it still looked red and angry, I started to get really worried that it was herpes. I went back to the doctor, who again wasn't concerned and gave me some topical cream and said not to worry. Another week passed by and the wound would look like it was scabbing, I would go to bed and wake up the following morning and the scab would always have fallen off. It just did not seem to be getting any better. I now 100% convinced myself it was herpes and the anxiety had really set in. I text my date (we were still talking quite regular and had also met up again in the meantime platonically). I explained my symptoms were not clearing up and asked if she had any issues. She said everything was OK with her, however she then mentioned she went to a doctor after our night together as she felt sore. The doctor told her everything was normal and was probably down to friction. She also works as a surgical assistant nurse and the regulations require a blood test every 6 months to ensure no major issues or risks with blood work. I booked another appointment at the medical centre and asked for a full screening for STI/D's which included a HIV blood test and PCR urine test (which did include Herpes Simplex 1/2). Now I know the Urine test isn't that accurate, I was content that I could take this test (and with the opinion of a sexual health doctor) I had done everything that was available to me. I passed out while having blood taken (this always happens to me when I have blood taken). So full of anxiety and feeling embarrassed I was given an apple juice and told not to worry. Again at this point it was still a singular lesion, the total time elapsed at this point had been nearly 4 weeks. The blood work result was back within 30 mins and the doctor knew how anxious I was, so he told me to go get some food and come back and the results would be ready. The blood came back negative for HIV, which I was obviously relieved about. The Urine results would take 3 days. At this point I was already mentally exhausted and convinced it was going to be bad news I would eventually receive. I had to fly out for a business trip and I received the results on a Thursday morning as I landed. The tension I felt as I opened the email was just torture. And to my surprise everything came back negative. I felt like I was on cloud 9 and I felt such relief I was just randomly smiling to myself in Starbucks. That day was a great day and I was hoping that would be the end of the story. However... The time line now was now coming up to 5 weeks since my initial medical appointment. I went to my meeting on Friday and everything was fine that day. I returned home and get ready to take a shower. I will never forget the shock when I took off my clothes and saw x3 new holes above where my first lesion was and then further down another blister. I was in absolute shock and couldn't believe what I was seeing. It was like someone was playing a cruel joke on me. Now the symptoms were stereotypical herpes symptoms and in that moment I broke down. I'd had no other sexual contact at this point, other than my date now 6 weeks prior. I think I've rambled on enough so to get to where we are today. I went back to the doctors and he visually diagnosed it as herpes and gave me antiviral medication and topical cream. I know in the grand scheme of things herpes is not the worst thing that can happen to you. However the mental strain and disgust and shame I feel are definitely an issue. It's been 3 weeks since my official diagnosis and I have been falling into a deep depression. I have a strong support network of my parents/ sister and a couple of close friends. However they have become stressed and upset seeing how badly I have taken this and being in another country by myself has been difficult. Each day has been a struggle and I have been trying to work normally which has been difficult. I'm like an empty shell that is as fragile as cookie floating in milk, just waiting to be sunken by the inevitable absorption of my surroundings. In summary: I feel angry, upset and the fact this is something for life, it's killing me inside. I feel like I have lost a piece of myself and I will never be able to accept this diagnosis. I'm also angry with how the stigma is so strong and impacts so many people and yet there hasn't been an official push on education to make this supposedly harmless skin condition accepted in society as something that is completely normal. Although I do not actually know any other person in my social or professional circles who admits to having GHSV. Luckily I think I have only had the x2 breakouts so far. I'm not taking antivirals anymore. I take 1000mg of Lysine daily. but now any type of spot or red mark just sends me into desperation of emotional turmoil. I also noticed today some dry flaky skin around my groin area and I have no idea if this is all connected or just paranoia creeping in?? Just functioning in daily life is difficult and I'm trying to get to that place where I can be at ease with this. I actually feel drained typing all of this so I doubt anyone actually made it to the bottom.
  5. https://ibb.co/jvXC2tX picture attached. My husband cheated 3 years ago - we both got tested 5 months after the infidelity. I have absolutely no reason to believe he has cheated again and I can say that confidently. But the time he did, even though we were tested almost 6 months after it happened and I’ve been tested twice more after that is it possible that we are now positive or I am positive even with my negative tests last year? please see image. It has a burning sensation. Constant burning and has been happening for 5 weeks now. It is right on the inside of my vulvar area.
  6. Hello, I previous had unprotected sex with someone(same person) 5 weeks ago and now 6 days ago. The day after I noticed the beginning of these bumps on my pubic area. They were not painful and we lumpy/looked to have a white pustle. I assumed ingrown hairs, so I did the wrong thing and decided to pick them off. Now I have a couple red sore spots. I have no pain, do not feel sick or achey, have no itchiness, I have been peeing a lot but I think its because I am anxious. I have an appointment with a dermatologist on Monday. Currently I am assuming it is ingrowns or folliculitis, or at worse, molluscum. However, I wanted to know if this could under any chance be herpes. https://ibb.co/tpjfvkV
  7. Looks like there is now a site that's in English selling Amenalief (amenamevir) for the rock bottom price of about $95.43 USD a day. ($668 shipped for 14 x 200mg pills at 400mg/ daily dose). Amenalief is one of the helicase primase-inhibitor class of drugs that has been around for the better part of a couple decades, but has just recently made it to market in Japan. Pritelivir is also a member of this drug class. For those that have less than stellar results from current antivirals, helicase primase-inhibitors are likely to offer a relatively impressive improvement in quality of life assuming you can afford the ongoign cost of using them suppressively (needless to say they are NOT a cure). As a side note, the FDA blocked further testing of Pritelivir back in 2013, so in case you're wondering why you cannot buy this class of drugs as a consumer at your local pharmacy for a more reasonable price using your prescription drug plan, you owe a large thanks to the FDA for your being forced to weight your physical and emotional HSV-related damages against the cost of this treatment. If anyone out there is independently wealthy, willing to order an antiviral drug from a Japanese company, and would be so kind as to report back with their experiences taking Amenalief suppressively, I'm sure many of your fellow sufferers would be extremely thankful! https://www.mimaki-family-japan.com/item/detail?item_prefix=TF&item_code=705711&item_branch=001
  8. I've only ever been with one person, and that's my boyfriend, he on the other hand has been with other people in the past but he's never had anything on him...and we're both faithful to each other, been together for almost two years.....

  10. Hi everyone, I have noticed a very small crater on my penis, right next to the urethra opening. It's shallow, small and painless. There's not really any identifiable features other than it being a small indent, like literally the skin just dips down. There's nothing inside it, no pus or weeping or liquid. No 'top' to it. It appears reddish/pinkish, like the skin around it. It is not sore or painful to touch. I have had it 3 days. Here are pictures: https://imgur.com/a/ywiFWeL - it's difficult to photo without it being somewhat lost. I have to also say that I've had discomfort of the lower abdomen for a few weeks. I don't have pain while urinating but there's a general discomfort of the urethra. Not burning, but discomfort - around 2/10 in scale. I have had this 'crater' or 'indent' come and go before. Maybe around 3 months ago, I remember it was around for a handful of days, and faded again. No scab or healing over, it just sort of faded. So does this seem to correlate with a mild outbreak or recurrence? Can anyone point me in the right direction? Has anyone experienced anything similar? Doctor's have been extremely slow to help. It's so hard to see someone without waiting weeks, and when I finally do they have little knowledge or barely any time. With many craters, the first answer is often syphilis, but I had that test done before and it came back negative. I haven't had sex since and was well within the test window. I last had sex around 18 months ago, unprotected. I haven't had a Herpes test before. I know many of you help keep this website a source of valuable information and ease so many people's anxieties or confusion, thankyou to all of you for your time and work.
  11. I need opinions on whether this is herpes or possibly something else. I plan to get tested this week. On a Monday in Dec 2019 I had protected receptive anal Sex with an ex. I ended up getting a really bad anal fissure ( I’ve been dealing with anal fissures for ever). The fissure left my anus sore and there was a slight smell. I began to use neosporin b/c I felt the fissure was getting infected. By Friday/Saturday of that week I noticed what looked like sporadic bumps around my anus and the area felt sore. These bumps progressed to ulcers. Initially I thought maybe I had a bacteria infection but I went to a dermatologist and he said it looked like herpes. So much so he prescribed me Valtrex. No other testing was done. After going hime and thinking for a bit, I remembered back in October 2018 I got a really bad anal fissure and these same bumps/ulcers followed. So now I’m wondering if these are really herpes or something else. They really don’t look like blisters but I’ve read that they can look many ways. Also the bumps didn’t all come at the same time. As some healed and couple others popped up. sorry for graphic photos in advance!
  12. I am experiencing my second GHSV1 outbreak, exactly 1 year after my first GHSV1 outbreak in August 2016. I'm bummed to say the least, but mostly concerned with the way my GHSV1 is manifesting this time around. During my first outbreak, I had the classic prodromal symptoms of itchiness, common flu symptoms, and swollen lymph nodes on both sides of my groin. I had several small-ish bumps, and a group of tiny blisters at the top of my vulva: those seemed to be the only sores that stung and "opened." They also took the longest to heal. -- With my second outbreak beginning yesterday, my symptoms so far are milder. I only have a few tiny blisters at the top of my vulva again. However, I had no prodromal symptoms this time, unlike my initial outbreak. Noting the similar blisters and their location, I immediately started my reserve of Acyclovir, 400mg twice a day. That was 24 hours ago. I now feel stinging/itchiness in the blister area, and a small, dull-aching pain in the region. But with 1200mg of Acyclovir down the hatch, I'm surprised that I'm feeling heavy tenderness in my left lymph node, which has become fairly swollen in the last few of hours. Has anyone with GHSV1 experienced a later recurrent outbreak, accompanied by swollen lymph nodes? I want to know if this is normal for anyone else, and if I should now consider daily anti-viral therapy. I was advised against doing so originally due to lack of recurrences. *For peace of mind, I will go get another swab test completed to rule out a GHSV2 infection that I may have also contracted in August 2016 (boyfriend had both HSV1 and HSV2, but the diagnosis from my initial outbreak was an HSV1 positive swab.) Any insight is appreciated!
  13. Hello everyone, First thankyou so much for taking the time to read/reply. I could use your help so badly. I had sex unprotected one year ago. A week afterwards I had some itching of the foreskin so went to the doctor, and was advised it was Balanitis. I got some cream and it went away within a few days. Since then I had a full STI panel of Chlamydia, Gonhorrea, Syphilis, HIV, and Hepatitis - all negative. Last week I had sex with someone new. She was a virgin, and we used a condom. Now since then, for the last 6 days I have had burning down my urethra - not while peeing, but just in general. I went to the doctor and they advised that it could be more Balanitis, so I got more cream. However, the woman I slept with now has flu, enlarged lymph node in neck, and a sore throat. I have also noticed these tiny tiny bumps or marks near the opening of my penis (pictured). I am not sure if I have always had them or if I'm just seeing them now. Would these show a year afterwards, right when I have sex again (and with a virgin, with a condom)? Are my symptoms in line with Herpes? Thanks for your advice, there's not much info on the internet.

  15. Had unprotected sex like 2-3 months ago. For a long time nothing came up. The I saw bumps appear between my thighs, thought it was razor bumps. Then my skin started shedding a lot, kinda like when kids cover their hand in glue and peel it off if that makes sense. I scratched/picked at some of them (and those were the only ones that “popped” and they were like open sores. Now they just go through this cycle of scabbing the the scab gets peeled off by my clothes or whatever and it starts all over. They don’t hurt, it tingled here or there, and I wouldn’t say it’s itchy but I’ve had the urge to scratch around it recently but I wouldn’t say it was often. And something similar formed on my elbow. I’m trying to get in to get tested ASAP but it’s hard. Any help? Input?

    Herpes?

Hi, me again. I thought I’d gotten over all the herpes obsession but now I’ve noticed red spots near my vagina entrance and I’m beyond panicked. They are on both sides, they don’t itch and aren’t really sore, which I know usually is symptoms for herpes. I’ve had them for 3 days now and they haven’t necessarily changed shape, which I know is common. Someone please help me! What is this? I’m on my period, is it irritation? I’ve been with the same guy for months now so I’ve either had it and not known or possibly got it from him. It’s not letting me upload pictures, but I’ve copied a link where I uploaded them. Please someone check them out and help me https://patient.info/forums/discuss/do-i-have-herpes--761234

  20. June 3rd I may of been exposed to Herpes. Performed oral and vaginal sex with a one night stand. A few days later, "felt off" and got tested on the 7th (negative for all stds, but not tested for herpes) Took a round of Doxycycline the following week around the 14th for a few days as I was feeling extremely Hot and urinating frequently. It seemed to help for an instant, however still feeling off. Tested again n the 28th - Negative for all stds including HSV igg however positive for HSV igm with an index of 1.14 (Positive being anything greater than 1.1) *approximately 26 days after suspected exposure Dr. prescribed Valacyclovir 2x day. Started taking medication July 2nd. Pain and discomfort in the penis continuing. With sensations in the pelvic area and kidneys. Tested again on July 20th - Negative for all stds and HSV igg/igm. Tested again August 6th - Negative for all stds and HSV igg/igm. I have been taking valacyclovir since July 2nd 2x daily. I have felt just not right since the possible exposure date (or shortly after). My penis has gone through feelings of tingling sensations, heat, pain but not to touch, pain in my pelvis. Things seemed to of started with a burning sensation in the inner thigh. I feel as I am having shooting sensation in my legs and occasionally have an itchy/tingle around where my pubic hair is from time to time. Hell, today and maybe yesterday I've noticed tingling in my scalp. I tried again today to not take the valacyclovir and lasted until about 11:30 am after waking up around 8 am. My lips and the skin around my face starts to burn and the tingling around the pubic hair area of my genitals increase in its sensations. It's almost as a sleeping demon is waking up when I don't take the meds. When I take it, it takes about a day or so for things to get back in control. My penis/genitals have also not smelled the same since. It seems my scent has changed. Today is day 68 - is this how it's going to be forever? I am worried I have this all over my face as the burning is in the corners of my mouth and down my chin, as well as my nose. I have not shown any sores however I do feel my penis and scrotum has felt hot and sometimes red, typically on the head of the penis at the urethra. Multiple dr's say it looks normal to them. I am so lost and feel like I am falling apart physically, mentally and emotionally. I guess I just wait until week 12 (in a few more weeks) to maybe test positive... but then what?
  21. Hey, I have been effective by herpes simplex virus for 21 days. And l still have the pain and lesion. I went to the doctor 2 weeks ago, she said that ”is getting better, there is no lesion in the area. ” and l had sex with my boyfriend while using a condom. After that l got the pain and lesions again. Last night l checked and l didn't see any lesions and didn't feel any pain and we thought it's gone. We had sex and now l have the pain again. My question is when l get rid of this pain and lesions? Is it bad to have sex before lesions still in there even l barely see them? Also, my period started today. Do you think it will get worse?
  22. Hello everyone. A sex worker performed oral sex on me on December 17, 2020, after 2 days I go with a doctor friend I tell him that I made a mistake that I am afraid of an STD (I am married) he gives me cetriaxone, he gives me azithromycin and 7 days of tetracycline . I go home and have sex with my wife on December 24 and 26, on December 27 I have a discomfort when urinating, in January another doctor formulates gentamicin and it is removed, but I am left with a strange sensation in my urethra, he tells me that probably kidney stones. On February 17, a bright red ulcer appears on my glans, when I see it, I panic and go to the hospital, they test me for all HIV (I already have 5 tests to date), syphilis (vdrl fat-abs), chlamydia and gonorrhea all The doctor checks the lesion and tells me that it is not herpes, it does not look like herpes because there were no blisters or blisters. Anyway, I started taking acyclovir and 8 days after having the wound (it already had a white scab on top, it healed after 2 days) I did the herpes test (I had about 3 days taking acyclovir) I clarify since I was little I have had h1 on my lips, the results were the following IgG for h1 positive (obviously) IgG for h2 negative IgM for h1 negative IgM for h2 negative I don't know what to do I don't trust the tests these tests were taken 10 weeks after contact apart from that I used a cream that had a strong ration on my penis and burned it by 80% and to this date it is recovered

    Diagnosed today, please help

Hey guys. I was just diagnosed with genital herpes after a visual examination. I've had all the possible symptoms - fever, chills, aches, sore throat, bumps on vaginal area and discomfort when peeing. I'm waiting to find out what strain I have and I have so many questions/am just feeling so terrible so would appreciate any help. 1: Does it really matter which strain you have? Should you still disclose this diagnosis to potential future partners? 2: Has anyone noticed small bumps on their fingers from the infection? Are these contagious? I have small bumps on one finger that haven't broken but are uncomfortable when touched. 3: Is it possible to have infection in both the mouth and genital area at one time? Most of the stuff I've read has said if you have bumps on the vagina then it's genital herpes but my throat is so sore and seems to have bumps way at the back - no sores yet. 4: Linked to Q.3, if I have genital herpes can I spread infection by kissing alone?
