  1. Hi there, Long time lurker, first time poster, and I'll keep it simple and condensed. I've only signed up because I realize the depths of suffering some people are in, trying all sorts of desperate treatments, and I've basically been sitting on something that has taken me to near 0 outbreaks (hsv1 genital). When I first got infected some years back, I had an atypical presentation--no pain or itching, but permanently there. Bumps going up and down within the same day even, but pretty much permanently covering the head of my penis. Doctor swabbed it--came back hsv 1; he said it looked like it to him too. Now to the meat of it--rubbing alcohol. Its simple, and I'm pretty surprised that I've only seen it mentioned once here--a woman was talking about it, so I assume it works for girls too. I apply once daily, to once every 3 days, and that keeps me pretty much permanently outbreak free. It quite literally went from every day broken out for me to just about nothing. Anyway, to the what and where of it all... I use 99% isopropyl. 70% seems good too. I now have a spray bottle, but used to just dump it on the head and roll my foreskin up over it for like 20ish seconds--whatever process is actually happening, I like to think I'm facilitating absorption into the soft tissue by doing this and wreaking havoc on the virus. Obviously, you may have to do it a bit differently, genital depending. I've been doing this treatment for a few years now, so it has staying power. I read once that herpes is shreded by alcohol, so if true, I guess that explains it? However, iterupting regular treatment seems to have anecdotally, but not with great surety, made the herpes a bit less suceptible to the alcohol upon resumption. Yes, it burns terribly at first. Over time it gets better. Some days it still really burns, and in those cases I advise listening to your body and cutting the countdown short. Other than that, it feels really damn good to basically tell herpes to eff off. I don't know what kind of health risks there are. Or whether using a high % grain (drinking) alcohol would work / be healthier. I advise asking your doctor--afterall, alchohol is implicated in throat cancer. Who knows if 20-30 seconds daily on your junk can do something too. But for those who struggle constantly, I truly hope this can help someone other than just me. I also hope that this finds its way to the right forum. I wanted it in a place where casual, straight from Google, viewers would see it when they came here, and I'm hoping--and asking, please--that if I didn't get it in the right place, a moderator can instead. And, should it help as I suggest, perhaps even stickying it one day. I'm sorry in advance, I'm not a big forum person and don't come here crazy often. It just felt like something I should do for everyone else's sake. Hopefully you can excuse me if I'm an absentee topic starter. Thanks for reading, - Taylor Edit: I forgot to add in any negative effects I've experienced. Sometimes, if its burning more than usual and I leave it too long, it does make the skin pinker than it should be, and sore. The big question, what about loss of sensitivity? I worried that may happen, and its possible actually that I've lost some amount. But if I have, it wasn't even enough to remember when posting this originally, hahaha. Still every body is different, so I can only speak for me. But yes, for me, my sensitivity down there is still in great shape. Over the last few years I've on average had less stiff erections, and dysfunction, which I never had before. However, I've also been less physically healthy, I've been mentally disengaged and highly anxious around sex and sexuality (and when I'm not anxious, it often improves quite a bit), I read once that herpes itself can actually cause forms of ED, and I'm also now out of my 20's, so... Possibly related? But also very possibly unrelated to the alcohol. I'm biased though, both in mentality and my words here. So, perhaps consult a doctor if you're concerned. Cheers!

    Two outbreaks

Recently had my first big outbreak (I had a scare of what I thought could have been one last month but even though I got swabbed asap tested it came back negative). After about a week into the outbreak on my genitals I then had an oral outbreak (never had a cold sore before at least to my awareness). While I am on antivirals (taken the day the cold sore showed and the genitals have started clearing this oral one just seems to be getting worse. The nurse said it was likely HSV-2 but I am still waiting for my results. Does anyone have any recommendations on how to cope with this oral outbreak? I am currently staying at my boyfriends' house and am worried it will travel from inner lip/mouth to be more visible, the idea of his parents seeing it fills me with dread. Also, any good websites/blogs/youtubers to follow to give me a little more hope to this all.
  3. Hello I'm new here, scary and unsure but 90% I got HSV2. (I'll test again on first week of April and let you know.) My story so far. Went to a wonderful trip to South east asia... oh those nights, yes, I was silly, had orals non protected with sex workers (full always protected)... is crazy how being silly and the seeking joy of sex can lead to such mistakes and depression. About 15 days I came back, have oral with another girl in my country and the same night I find first few tiny spots on my glans. I start to freak out, my glans becomes all full of tiny pimples, bumps, like a weird balanitis but without much itch or pain (nothing at the moment, had very few tingling a week later). Visit a dermatologist, send pics to another, asking them if that could be herpes, they say no, they also look like don't know what to say, almost cannot find a diagnosis. In a week or so spots start to go away or so it seems. But new series of micro white bumps appeared on the underskin, under glans (they lasted 1-2 days)... My anxiety was off scale. Decide to test many STDs. And here, big harsh "surprise", both IGG negative but IGM (1 or 2) positive. You can imagine how I felt. How I feel. The day I went to do blood tests I also was starting a short flu, don't know if herpes related (pimples were already gone both, if that was my sort of "outbreak"). Now am waiting the famous 12-14 weeks to test the definitive IGG. My anxiety is high, I fear I passed it to my girl... but a month now and she doesn't have signs in mouth. What I have now is that can't even remember if my glans was always so bumps-textured. If I ever had it, if is sort of mild herpes or unknown asian kind... So now that I shared my story... I need few answers please. :-P What do you think? Is typical Herpes2 symptom to leave glans surface with many tiny bumps after the outbreak? Is the IGM test really so unreliable as they say? The kind of test they used for IGM was the Chemiluminescent one (don't know if the same of ELISA), results say they double checked and is positive unfortunately (herpes 1 or 2). Note: if you want I have pics of every state.
  4. Hello friends, my IGG is increasing I'm now 1 at blood test, was 0,50 after my glans became... dotted. If you want read my story I'm one of those unlucky (maybe 'cause my body defences sucks?) got it from an oral received (sex worker). I'm in the guess usual phase of depression and thoughts as you can imagine and know. I have few questions: Feel like my glans is not anymore like used to be before the outbreak (my ob looked more like a balanitis, never scab, only widespread tiny pimples), I can still see tiny skinbumps... maybe on my body I'll have a costant mini outbreak like this (I'm now 3 months half after intercourse)? Am I condamned to never give orals to girls anymore? Anyone here considered to joing sperimental hsv-2 cure programs if they exist? Thanks in advance

  6. Can someone have BOTH HSV1 & HSV2 in the same location, i.e. orally?
  7. Apparently I have HSV1 based on a blood test, I never had any signs of cold sore nor genial symptoms of any kind, Which is not uncommon. Let's suppose it is oral. I am dating a girl who had a swab test testing HSV1 positive in the genital area. Would me having HSV1 reduce my chances of contracting genital HSV1 from her? Let's now suppose mine is genital. Would having sex with her increase my chance of having outbreaks (which I never had). Any pointers to scientific studies on the matter or doctors' opinions would be VERY much appreciated. Many thanks
  8. Hey guys, can you guys tell me if I have symptoms of oral herpes? I have not developed a cold sore at all outside my mouth, however, I have small bumps all along the inside of my mouth. I have tiny, peach/skin colored bumps on my gum that connects the top and bottom of my jaw, kind of near my cheek. On the arch/top of my mouth near the uvula, it's very red with tiny tiny white dots, that look like pimples but even smaller. On the back of my throat, there's orange-like bumps that are pretty big compared to the other bumps. I can't tell if any of these are normal or a sign of infection. My lips are pretty chapped and red, but there's nothing resembling a cold sore. This whole thing started about a month ago and hasn't really gotten better. Can anyone tell me if this sounds like a primary oral herpes outbreak? Thank you so so much in advanced, I've been having so much anxiety.

    IS THIS AN OB?! (Picture)

Hello everyone, I've recently been diagnosed with HSV 2. I never had an OB before so I don't know what to expect. This morning I woke up with a sore like this (picture attached). Is this a canker sore or cold sore. Its a tiny white sore. It's not on my lip but inside of it. It hurts like a canker sore but I never got one so close to my lip. I've been so paranoid lately and it's been stressing me out. I freak out over every little bump in my mouth. I'm scared to touch my mouth and lips because I'm scared of spreading it. I just updated a clearer picture of the sores. I notice another tiny white bump next to it. I'm starting to think it is an OB. I do not have HSV 1.

    HSV 2 INSIDE MOUTH OBS?!

Hello! I was wondering if anybody on here experienced inside the mouth outbreaks with hsv 2? I tried researching but there's not a lot of material on it. I asked my doctor and she said its really rare but some people do have it. I'm freaking out because i always get canker sores inside my mouth and the docotor said that OB's can mimic cnaker sores. I got one of them swab but the test won't come back until next week. Can anybody tell me the difference between canker sores and herpes ob inside the mouth. How do they look? I was wondering if those who do have this, can you share your experience. Thank you!
  11. I am a newly diagnosed (<1 year) HSV2 positive female. For the first time since my diagnosis, I started to hook up with a guy and things got heated. Being the fact that I didn't tell him about the situation, no intercourse happened however, at one point he fingered me and in the heat of the brought his fingers to his mouth. Although no direct oral sex from him to me happened, we are worried about the rate of transmission. I am on valacycolvir daily had no sign of an outbreak and no prodrome pain from shedding (I've experienced nerve pain in the past). I also went down on him and, even though I do not have oral HSV2, this is also something he is concerned about. I would like to know if anyone has had any similar experiences to mine or has any information on how likely it may be that he has been put at risk, anything to ease the anxiety...

    Tranmission?

my boyfriend has HSV 1 orally, I recently shaved and he did kiss the top layer of skin of my recently shaved vagina(not the mucous membrane inside) (would this cause microscopic cuts in the skin and allow entry for the virus)? Mind you he wasn't presenting any cold sores at the time but could have been asymptomatically shedding.

  14. Hello, I very recently, unfortunately gave my partner oral herpes. We think it's genital herpes on her mouth. She's got the bumps/clusters and now it's starting to scab. I'm wondering if we engage in (mouth to mouth, closed and open) kissing, can I get it.... worse? Meaning - I have only noticed tingling, itching, stinging on my mouth but no noticeable bumps/clusters small or large, no pus or bleeding, etc. Or is it kind of like, the infection is what it is and I already have it/it can't 'pop up' in a new or different way...? Thanks for your time.
  15. Sigh where do I even begin? I was diagnosed with oral herpes (HSV1) after a long time bf went down on me (with no symptoms). We broke up years later for other reasons. But since then dating has been a nightmare. I can't shake my own internalized stigma about everything and the feeling of shame like my sex life will be ruined forever and no one will ever want me. It truly makes me feel sick with stress. I met someone new a couple of months ago and we've been hanging out consistently and developing feelings for one another. We've made out and such but last night we had sex for the first time (used protection). He tried to go down on me and I stopped him, thinking having sex with a condom was safer than oral, given my status. I didn't have it in me to disclose when he asked me why I stopped him from oral later that night. And the thought of disclosing and the fact that I didn't is weighing heavily on me now. I genuinely care for this person and the fear of him rejecting me is making me sick and I know I've been selfish. My question now is how do I disclose after the fact? We used condoms and my GYNO has said using condoms already helps a ton. She insists it's not a big deal, but I can't shake the feeling that it is? What do I say? "I didn't let you go down on me the other night/ I didn't go down on you because I've had a cold sore (aka oral herpes) and I wanted us to talk about that first" "it's not a big deal as 80%_90% of people have had a cold sore once in their life, I just wanted to let you know before engaging in oral sex. I haven't had a coldsore in months and that was my only one, but I just wanted to let you know I have had one - even though I don't right now" is that okayyyy? HELP

    Oral HSV2 Spread

If a person(male) has Oral HSV2, how easy is it to spread to a partner(female): 1) Through Kissing 2) Through Oral Sex 3) Through Vaginal Sex
  18. Hello, I have recently been diagnosed with herpes - both oral and genital (mostly likely HSV1, although this has not yet been confirmed by lab analysis). I took 2000mg of Valtrex on Tuesday afternoon, another 2000mg on Tuesday morning and have since continued taking the drug with a dosage of 500mg twice a day. It has been almost three days and my symptoms seem to be getting worse ie. new sites have appeared and previous, smaller areas of infection are spreading. Is this normal? At what point should I rule out Valtrex as an effective tool to manage outbreaks? Thank you
  19. Hello everyone.. I am in a profession where i work with abandoned children often (and its also likely i picked up my HSV1/oral from one of these kids) and next 6 months i would be working with a lot of kids ( which is very very stressful). I had been asking my doctor if we could do something to reduce the frequency of outbreaks and invisible shedding. She prescribed aciclovir 200mg 1 tabet a week and 800 mg Lycin everyday! 1 tablet a week seems to be a very small dosage, should i get a second opinion from another doctor? And on a similiar note, for the past couple of months i get shooting pain (like pin pricks) under my ball sac and the region between thigh and ball sac accompanied by intense itching. This lasts for a couple of days. the pain appears randomly and last for less than a second though. Do i have genital herpes as well now? Thanks and regards
