  1. Charla

    Two outbreaks

Recently had my first big outbreak (I had a scare of what I thought could have been one last month but even though I got swabbed asap tested it came back negative). After about a week into the outbreak on my genitals I then had an oral outbreak (never had a cold sore before at least to my awareness). While I am on antivirals (taken the day the cold sore showed and the genitals have started clearing this oral one just seems to be getting worse. The nurse said it was likely HSV-2 but I am still waiting for my results. Does anyone have any recommendations on how to cope with this oral outbreak? I am currently staying at my boyfriends' house and am worried it will travel from inner lip/mouth to be more visible, the idea of his parents seeing it fills me with dread. Also, any good websites/blogs/youtubers to follow to give me a little more hope to this all.
  2. Does anybody have any suggestions on how you deal with pain at work or when you are out? I have hsv2 I am in the beginning of a break out this one is bad. I can’t really afford to call in so if anybody has any tips I would greatly appreciate it! Thanks.
  3. Hi I'm losing more hair than usual and not on any suppressive meds. Was wondering if anyone else experienced this hsv2 diagnosis or even hsv1 diagnoses If so how did you solve the problem? Thank you.
  4. I just being diagnosed with hsv-1 (oral) and experience my first outbreak. What worry me is that i am on my early stage of pregnancy, is there any risk i transmit the virus to my baby in the uterus? Since I never had any outbreak before and this is the 1st time I've been tested positive with hsv-1. Anyone could help me deal with this, Im so worry, I really want to make sure my baby is delivered safe and healthy
  5. Approximately 5 years ago a girl gave me a peck on the lips, I wiped my lips off. The next morning I woke up with a painful rash all over my top lip that dried up and resulted in chapped lips, where the skin died and regenerated. No pus or obvious cold sore. I have had this same outbreak approximately once a year in the same place except for this year where I have had it almost continuously, I have been very stressed. I went to the doctor who says it isn't cold sores (I have to wait 2 weeks for a blood test), however I have found someone ( To those with oral HSV2 only by Penumbra,) who tested positive for HSV2 by blood test with my EXACT symptoms. Before an outbreak, my lip/nose area is tingling a lot and I feel a strong twitching in my lip. Is it possible that I have mild cold sores? I would greatly appreciate any help
  6. Hey everyone! I've seen a various posts across various forums regarding disclosing (or not) and have seen a bit of a trend in people thinking that it's 'hard to pass' with one encounter (lol) condoms make it impossible to pass, blah blah blah. So let's just try to compile some short & sweet answers to some basic H transmissions stories and questions...Could be helpful in many ways to lots of people! 1. Did your giver: show symptoms / asymptomatic / disclose H to you? 2. Protected or unprotected? Oral/vaginal/anal? 3. How many encountrs with giver? (time frame of encounters ie. one weekend of several months?) 4. How were you diagnosed? (swab or blood test) 5. Are you a symptomatic carrier (showed signs ie. outbreak) or asymptomatic (never showed signs, diagnosed by blood work) 6. How long from sexual exposure did you start to show symptoms? 7. How long did your primary outbreak last? How frequent have your recurrences been? (ie. one a month/year?) 8. How long have you been H+? 9. Are you on antivirals only during outbreak or suppressive therapy? Or have you gone the natural route? 10. Words or wisdom/support for newbies? ********** I'll go first... 1. No visible signs of H. Asymptomatic carrier not diagnosed with at the time so no disclosure. 2. Unprotected vaginal/oral. 3. 2x in a weekend (Friday night and Sunday morning) 4. Positive swab test during terrify primary outbreak. 5. Symptomatic HSV2+ 6. Friday/Sunday sex; initial first symptoms started Tuesday and quickly got aggressive. (in hospital by next Sunday) 7. OB lasted a few weeks. Cleared up, then I had a couple minor recurrences due to alcohol in following weeks but MINOR in comparison (just more annoying not excruciatingly painful) still working through this ATM. 8. I was infected Mar9/18 - diagnosed with Mar23/18. 9. Antivirals during primary OB; lots of supplements and vitamins every day now and have changed my diet. 10. It does get better. Not back to normal better, but better. Take care of yourself and do whatever it needs for you to heal physically and emotionally. Find a good friend/family member/counsellor to confide in to help lessen the burden you are carrying. Get wine drunk with a friend and cry all night. Go to the top of a mountain and scream at the top of your lungs. Amazon shop till you max out your credit card buying things that make you happy. Hope this can help some peope! Love & light everyone! x
  7. This is my second outbreak in more than four years apart from the first. Or at least that the symptoms are noticeable enough. The first time I was prescribed acyclovir but this time I was prescribed valacyclovir (generic for valtrex). I'm on my third pill and just developed a mild reddish rash not itchy in my forearms. Has anyone experienced something like this?
  8. if i have genital AND hvs2 and I am at the tail of a very small outbreak, can I make someone who already has genital hsv2 have an outbreak too?
  9. To give a summary: My last sexual encounter besides my current girlfriend of a few months was at Christmas (unprotected oral and genital) with a female. In May I had for the first time a flare up in my genital area (penis on the side and at the base and on scrotum), where the skin was itchy and red and my penis was sore with a singular tiny red spot on the shaft . These symptoms lasted 4 weeks at which time I tried using cream and tablets for thrush as that was what my GP thought it was which didnt work. I showed pictures to a lady at the gum glinic after I managed to get an appointment as at that point my symptoms had gone, she said she didnt think it was anything to worry about and I tested negative for all stds (excluding herpes which at the time I didn't know they dont test for unless syptoms are present). I thought it was nothing to worry about then and since forgot about it. I however have had the same symptoms come back again on Sunday night with a single red spot on my penis shaft which went away after a few days but my penis still feels somewhat sore and the skin around the side of my penis itches and on my scrotum. I have no lesions or sores that have burst open or have any liquid in and have never had a coldsore in my life, I am worried this is non typical symptoms of a herpes infection and bought over the counter aciclovir cream and tablets from an online chemist to try and treat it myself until I can get another appointment at the gum clinic. I now have a girlfriend who has never had any symptoms of anything at all and I am worried and scared I may have given her the infection if it is herpes due to the fact we have sex without the use of condoms. 1. Does this sound like it could be symptomatic of herpes? 2. Is this likely based on the fact the same syptoms have re-occured or could it be something else? (Apologies I cannot upload the photos as they are too large for the limit on this website) Thank you.
  10. Read so many herpster recommend this natural supplement for herpes. Tried it for 3 days, then suddenly I’ve got major outbreak.. thigh.. buttocks.. labia..perineum... it’s everywhere,.. Normally my outbreak were always mild/ 1/2 blisters at the same location.. now it’s spreading all over below my waist part. oh God.. I wanna commit suicide right now..,
  11. during August 2017 I had an outbreak of scabs all over my legs they were red and very itchy the scabs did not appear anywhere else on my body and mostly formed on my lower legs, the scabs started out at little red bumps but did not look like blisters, the scabs lasted for about a month and haven’t appeared since then is this a symptom of herpes? The picture of the scabs is the background picture of my profile I’m not sure how to upload it on here
  12. Do we know the way the virus works with regards to it's schedule of waxing and waning in outbreaks? is there generally a longer dormancy period after the first outbreak? Like i just had my first painful genital outbreak mid February that lasted for ~2 weeks. Is there a usual pattern of dormancy of let's say a week or two?

How do y'all go about calling out of work during OB

This might sound a little amateur. But I woke up with my OB worse than it was last night. I have work then class then work. I tried just calling out of the first shift figuring I'll have a better chance of feeling better later and have some time for my doctor to get back to me. But they weren't having it. I'm only a server at a chilis. Not a congress woman.
  14. Is this even herpes or am I dying lol.

    DEALING WITH AN OUTBREAK ABROAD

Hey all, Hope you’ve had a great start to the year. I’m not too great! After suffering from catching a travel bug which caused me to have a weakened immune system resulting in a start of an OB. I’m currently abroad in Indonesia and won’t be leaving for another 6 weeks. I’ve been trying to build up my immune system again but I feel as if my OB is going to get worse and now my anxiety is starting to kick in. I have found two open sores and have been keeping the area clean and applying Tea Tree Oil to the lesions to keep it disinfected. Back home during previous OB’s I’ve taken Aciclovir to help deal with it all. Now I’m worried I won’t have access to anything like that where I am aghhhhh and it feels as if the burning sensation is getting worse day by day (it’s been 3 days since I first started to notice the sore feeling) CAN ANYONE GIVE ME ADVICE about how to deal with an OB whilst travelling for a long periods? as I really don’t want this to start stressing me out more as it will add to my already delicate state. Thanks you loves.

Outbreak EVERY time I have sex

I am at wits end. Everytime i have sex I get a ghsv1 ob the following day. I have been Valacyclovir 1g for over four months and still this is happening. I have graves disease (a type of hyperthyroidism) and after having my thyroid destroyed it stopped for about a month but now they are back weekly like clockwork. I have tried to cut down on stress, exercise, taking lysine daily. My Dr says there's nothing else I can do apart from live with it. Any ideas?

    Not sure if rectal herpes

Hey everyone, Hopefully someone can give me advice. I’m a gay bottom (receptive) and hooked up on the 22nd of February (currently the 5th of March.) during sex, no condom was used, and the guy swore that he got tested regularly, and never had any STI’s. Thursday night (March 1st) I started noticing some pain when I was walking, around my rectal area. The area was really moist, and I had started going to the gym a lot that previous week and doing a lot of stair-stepper workouts, so I thought it was chafing or a rash associated with that. But the more I looked at pictures of rashes, I’m convinced it’s herpes.. I had the Chickenpox when I was a little kid, I’m not sure if that’s relevant. But I’ve been walking around with toilet paper wedges between my butt cheeks because that’s the only thing that helps reduce pain and keeps the area dry, which I read is what you’re supposed to do. The one picture is after the shower, and the other is after a day at work with no toilet paper, so you can see how much discharge is present. Please help!

Help finding what triggers my o/b

24/f I was diagnosed late 2016 and have had several less intense break outs since the first but still horrible nonetheless. I have missed work a couple times and I am worried that at this rate I'm going to lose my job. The anti-viral and ibuprofen regimen helps a little but I am still struggling with ob symptoms (flu-like, watery discharge, odor, diarrhea, upset stomach, nerve pain, cramps, the works..). I have read that things like period, illness and stress can cause a flare up and I work an insanely stressful job. Any and all advice is welcome!
  19. Hi All, I was diagnosed with HSV-2 Herpes 8 months ago and it's been a roller coaster ride. I've learned to accept it, and have been trying to maintain a positive outlook on my situation and life. However, I constantly having reoccurring outbreaks. I'm talking about every week. Once an outbreak clears up, another follows shortly after. For the most part they are mild, but I can definitely see sores and bumps in the same areas, and automatically know it's another outbreak. I am currently talking Valtrex daily. I also take Vitamin C, Echinacea, Lysine, and Garlic pills daily. I excercise 3-4 times a week, and eat healthy for the most part. Although I have difficultly sleeping, I do get at least 7-8 hours of sleep a night. I've tried meditation, yoga...everything and I still get them CONSTANTLY. I feel as if my sex life is non existent because of this fear I carry that I will infect someone. Can someone shed some insight or light on what can be possibly causing these never ending outbreaks based on experiences? Trying to stay positive and live a normal life but it's hard!
  20. At the end of October, I tested positive for herpes without any symptoms (combined test) - I was pretty devasted. My only sexual partner of the year was on October 3rd, so I figured it was him. I got my first outbreak on December 29th after shaving. I get ingrown hairs a lot, but these looks like raised bumps, kinda big, filled with white/yellow puss. They soon scabbed over but as they were healing is seems another wave of sores are forming, I noticed some new ones today. I got tested for HSV 1 and 2 on January 10th, both came back negative. Also, I've been on antivirals since my outbreak started and it has not helped AT ALL. I've had sexual partners since my first test (one 2-3 weeks before my out and one 3 days before, but we didn't have sex).. So it's possible I got it later than I expected, which would devastate me more because I assumed I was positive all along. My question is, is it possible to test positive early on and then negative later? And is there something else I can do to help heal the outbreaks, since antivirals are providing no relief at all?
  21. Hi all. Noticed I am getting itchy, pain on my butt cheeks. Both cheeks. I thought outbreaks were one sided? So if that's the case is this something else? I put lotion and some powdered litrimin. Powder on my butt yesterday after working out (biking/rowing machine). Or is this just howy outbreaks are? I never got a real outbreak but am blood test hsv1 pos. Found out after oral sex but she didn't go near my butt with her mouth. Can someone comment are outbreaks one sided or can they be on both? Any one have experience with an outbreak on the butt cheeks?
  22. Almost a week ago or a little over I got two noticable bumps on the side of my private area. I didnt notice them until wiping myself down there while using the restroom. At first I thought it was nothing but as soon as I found it there was a very bad oozing, itching sensation, occasional burning, and it hurt to walk some times but the itching is the most common sensation. When I posted on this formus most people said this didnt look like herpes but after days went by it looks worse

    First Outbreak

All, I know the first outbreak is the most painful . Is it preferable to suffer through it to allow the immune system to kick in and adjust and attack it or to take the antivirals to suppress it?
  24. Hello! I'm new to this forum and I've found it really useful and interesting. I'm interested in hearing how long it takes for everyone's OBs to clear up once you have already experienced a primary OB. No doubt healing time will vary person to person, but I would be interested just to have an idea Thanks
  25. I was just diagnosed. Doctor said because of my associated flu like symptoms it is my initial outbreak and he almost certainly gave it to me. Noticed a dry, scabby area on his penis last time we had sex before I started getting symptoms. He dismissed it as rough skin. Doctor said there is a chance he's had it for years and was relatively asymptomatic and truly doesnt know he has it. Also a chance he knew he had it but didn't tell me. I guess another possibility is he cheated but knowing him, it's the other two possibilities. How, in the world do i approach this with him? I am sad, scared and disgusted. Thank you for your responses, I need to talk to him asap.
