broccoli curing herpes??

I read this on another post... sounds interesting

A few weeks ago, in mainstream press (I saw it on a news site on line), there was an article about broccoli curing herpes ... Actually it's the indole3carbinol in the broccoli that apparantly interrupts the replication of the virus. This substance also helps the liver process hormones, and can help with symptoms of "estrogen dominance".

At the time of reading that article, a friend of mine was having an outbreak of the genital variety, so I sent her the information and she started eating gobs of broccoli. The outbreak subsided. She has tried EVERYTHING mentioned already in this thread and got no relief before this.

For myself, I haven't had a cold sore breakout in more than 4 years since I figured out that my problem had to do with exposure to poison oak. I don't get poison oak. Instead my body suppresses the outbreak, but I get cold sores instead. Anything with formic acid in it will do the same thing to me : poison ivy, strawberries, rhubarb, stinging nettle and ant stings. I stop any sign of an outbreak with a homeopathic remedy ... rhus tox.

I had also tried all the other things mentioned, and nothing ever stopped the outbreak. When I was 12, I had them non-stop for 6 months all over my mouth. A few years ago, I remembered that I was always getting stung by nettle, because we had a lot of it in the backyard.

So, I would suggest that you remove any formic acid sources ... and eat your broccoli. By the way, be sure to buy organic honey. The commercial stuff may come from hives that are treated with formic acid to cure bee mite problems that are rampant in the bee industry.

And, if you don't like broccoli and its relatives, you can buy the supplement easily.

Finally, there are several homeopathic remedies that have formic acid action. Another is the remedy that comes from stinging nettle, and another from red ants. If you're interested in homeopathy, work with someone who is really, really good. It's amazing stuff when the homeopath knows what they're doing! and you have a good rapport and years to invest in your well-being.

I3C Compound - Monkey Protein

OK, I posted news from WebMD.com on the I3c compound found in broccoli and its effects on preventing the replication of HSV or the shedding of the virus. Go to WEB MD and read. I too eat gobs of broccoli a day along with taking 1000Mg of Valtrex a day. By the way, I saw an article recently (Dec '03) on Valtrex and the words "prevent transmission" were used. It is truly a wonderful drug and as a person who has HSV 1 and HSV 2 and even mono, I have no outbreaks and I feel confident I am not shedding either!! How about that attitiude.

Well, ok, still I am infected. It burns me up every day that someone gave this to me and I cannot get rid of it, despite my symptom-free situation. Ok, onward. I read an article in my local paper about this monkey protein (and I forgot what it was) that we humans also have, in which research on AIDS has revealed this monkey protein to stop it in its tracks! If you read my previous postings, you will hear me say that the AIDS/HIV research will one day do good for us too. This is a remarkable discovery and i will have to go back and find that article.

What bothers me about having HSV is that I cannot remove it from my body. I have not idea how many of my cells are effected, what strain I have (a mild strain or a bad one that is really ugly) and the fact that this virus is transmissible even without symptoms. That is the worse. No sores, yet it is there lerking ready to invade someone else. What pleasures does this give a human being........in my mind, none. How do you enjoy having sex full well knowing you harbor this disgusting disease. I for one, will never, never be able to accept it no matter what these support groups push. It must be removed and cleaned out of my body before I have that happy feeling in the pit of my soul, like life felt like before I was officially diagnosed. By the way, as senseless as this disease is, I would have been better off just not knowing.

Well, now I am depressed. I always get that way when I get on these message boards. I know I will get cancer one day before HSV is even cured, as I am 45 years old and got this sometime in my late teens or early twenties (someone forgot to tell me they had this before engaging with my mouth and my genitals). I'm sure the sex wasn't even that good when I got it anyway.

Re: I3C Compound - Monkey Protein

I feel exactly the same...

Angry at being infected...

Depressed about not being able to solve the problem...

Fear of passing it on to someone who may experience worse symtoms...

I am hoping to at least remain symtom free... We should be grateful for small mercies...

*** BY THE WAY::: Can you please post a LINK to the WebMD broccoli article you mentioned...? Thankyou! :) ***
