on friday, i was feeling definite prodrome signs... swollen, achey lymph nodes, an itch down there every couple of minutes, and what i can only describe as that 'cold burning' sensation. so, feeling a little bit blue, i thought 'bollocks to it, let's get wasted'. i gathered together a friend and an enormous supply of vodka and coke. managed to somehow consume a litre of vodka each on friday night, and although I woke up on saturday feeling somewhat less than healthy, the prodrome feelings had completely gone, and now, on sunday morning, they still haven't returned, and i don't think i'm going to get an outbreak at all.

so, my advice is vodka at blister or tingle. you might end up killing many healthy cells in the process, but it's fucking good fun too.

vodka as remedy?

Now common sense would indicate that alcohol, which depresses the immune system, would actually cause an outbreak rather than prevent it. But then, in my country just about anything was treated with vodka, onion juice, or charcoal. True, my country was stuck in the Dark Ages when it came to medicine, so we mostly relied on folk wisdom, midwives' tales, and a variant of Galen's radical treatment (attacking like with like).
