I go to the urologist tomorrow, but this has been bothering me so much i went from 2 bumps to like 9 on me since last july and i can see more starting to form, although my gf hasnt shown any signs of anything i have, and ive ben with her 2 yrs, i posted my whole story a few posts down but im still very worried, thanks for any help or advice in advance

Well......not exactly,

HPV is the initials for genital warts. I was diagnosed about 7 years ago with it and in my experience, it is very common. i think I now have another small wart down there but its my first one since the initial one. Unfortunately, its a virus and you carry it forever even if you show no physical signs. When you do have physical signs, you are very contagious. It is pretty much painless from what I can tell but is not harmless. It can be a cause of cervical cancer in women if left undetected or untreated. You will need to tell your gf and she needs to be looked at if you had sex with her anytime around when you noticed your symptoms. Good luck!

Well I know i had to get it from her but shes had that checked before rather recently and she was fine and has never shown a sign of anything. how did they diagnose you? Visually? Blood test? What kinda symptoms have you had?

Women can rarelt know if they have it - they don't test for it without a very good reason. I was exposed to warts and had to beg my doc to do a specific test.

Everyone has a type of HPV. The type that causes warts does not cause cancer. They are different strains - there are also strains that go undetected because they are harmless.

Don't blame your girlfriend - she may not know she has it - may not have it - may just be a carrier. Do your homework before you get too upset - gotHPV.com.

Well, I just got back from the Urologist and he looked at me and said that he doesn't think that it is genital warts, he thinks they are cysts, he told me that they can just appear for pretty much no reason and sometimes go away on their own or sometimes stay forever, so I asked him twice, So you don't think it's warts? He again said no but to put your mind at ease, i'll cut a piece of one of the bumps off and send it to get checked but I don't think it's warts and he told me that he'll just burn the rest off, so I guess that's very good news for me, I'm not gonna try to get my hopes up until I know for 100% sure, but I do feel alot better.

Hey @Lcj987 and welcome to the website. You can be sure that isn't HSV-2, looks nothing like it. It is much more likely to be folliculitis or inflamed fordyce spots.

Hey @JackThrowAway herpes causes an outbreak where it enters the body first and maybe a progressive spread. If it doesn't cause an outbreak at the entry site then it won't cause one elsewhere, it also won't 'jump' upon infection - it would be more likely that the lesions are continuous from the penis to the anus. Nevertheless, testing trumps symptoms or any interpretation of symptoms. The correct conclusive result arises when: you have a positive swab; or An IgG HSV-2 level over 3.5 (Herpeselect test).

Slept with someone unprotected, roughly 2 weeks ago now. I felt generally unwell the couple of days after but I’d been drinking the whole weekend and didn’t have much sleep either of the days of that weekend so put it down to that. 6 days after I noticed these spots appear on the shaft of my penis. Along with symptoms of discomfort in my shaft in the couple of days prior to them appearing. No pain when urinating at all that I have noticed. They don’t hurt, itch or tingle and they don’t have fluid in from what I can see or feel if I squeeze them and have never burst? I went to a sexual health clinic to get checked up, they took bloods to do a full test and looked at the spots but said they saw nothing that concerned them but I’m not sure about that, any advice? The smaller spots under the shaft are just follicles I had diagnosed years ago and non-sti related.

She tested positive for HSV2. No, there was nothing of that sort in that area.   However I also have ulcerative colitis so I’m on medication that makes me immunosuppressed. I have been bleeding a bit when I pass stools during the time of redness, so I’m unsure if I’m getting a flare from the colitis (from all the stress of everything) or if it’s due to the virus making it’s way to an already inflamed area and popping up as blisters that I can’t see and hence the bleeding.    I had two equivocal results (at 4 weeks and 6 weeks) that then went to a positive result (7 weeks after exposure). Combine that with some flu symptoms, redness, tingling etc. makes me feel it’s conclusive that this points to a hsv2 infection.
