my herpes tests

i went to te doctor at one week after i thougt i had an out break of both coldsores and genital herpes. the bumps on my genital were gone so he did a blood test it came back postitve for herpes simplex. i went another doctor who tested me especially for hsv 1 he said i didn't have it. seven weeks later i went back to the doctor i went to the first time for a complete std test. He said he would find out which virus was making my cold sores. i only had one bump( i never got them on my penis only on the pubic mound. ) He took a look and said herpes looks like chicken pox that was an hair bump i was getting just like i always get on my face. The blood test said I had exposure to herpes simplex. The hsv1 and hsv2 antibodies were normal. He said I had been exposed to herpes simplex but i i didn't have genital herpes He said i get cold sores. He had saw them on my face and so did i. I heard it's other viruses beside hsv that forms herpes cold sores like cmv. it that what i have and how common is this?

If the doc didn't do a swab on a sore than the tests may give a false reading on a new exposure. I always thought, and believes that HSV causes coldsores - period. I'd call your doc and ask those questions to him so you understand clearly - and if there is something else that causes coldsores - please write back..
