Abab Update!

Hey, I was the one who posted about sharing a drink with a friend. I found out that my friend does in fact have oral herpes. But now I am thinking I don't have herpes because I have no blisters. But then I started to get things on the inside of my cheeks like canker sores. They do not hurt at all, the only reason i know they are there is because i can feel them with my tongue. The only thing i don't understand is. If i don't have herpes, then why did I experience every prodrome symptom? Im thinking these canker sores in my cheeks are cause from the severe stress I was going through thinking I had herpes. I read that herpes on the inside of your mouth is rare, and im sure they hurt like hell. These give me absolutely no pain at all. Ive had two on my right side and 1 (last one left) on my left side of the inside of my cheek.

Just to be safe im gonna hold off on the kissing for a while and see how things are. Then if anything happens Ill be going to the doc. Thanks everyone. This trip has been scary and still because im still unsure. But there may be some light at the end of the tunnel. God bless.

Hey you know they could just be bite marks, or yeast in your mouth. I always have sore feeling irratation on my cheeks and sometimes on the side of my tongue - i was told they were bite marks from grinding my teeth at night, which you would probably do especially under stress. Ive read that herpes in your mouth is rare, but usually on your gums, unless you are in advance stages of aids, which i think you would know if you were  Anyway, hope this helps, oh yeah, if you had strep or something that can cause mouth irratation too. Give yourself a break, ive read that if you do get hsv 1 on the upper region only 50% of people will experiance more than one outbreak in their lifetime. I am not a doc, but i read so much and have seen so many docs - so just try to destress and you'll be fine either way. Not to mention, you could already have hsv 1, almost everyone does - and stress can casue a lot of strange sensations. Take care, and thank you for caring enough to avoid contact until you know for sure. Thats the first step to eliminating this herpes crap.

Hey thanks a lot for the quick reply. I never thought of bite marks, but now that you bring it up, I even have a teeth grinding problem while i sleep even when im not stressed. I had a pretty bad sore throat too that is still kinda lingering, it probably could have been strep, I also had really really bad dry mouth and chapped lips, i'm talking my lips were turning white :? . Do you know if strep causes this?. THANK GOD im going on vacation this weekend! just a few more days of work :D

Until then I'll get plenty of rest.

Best of wishes.

You know what else - i know when i get stressed - i forget about basic things like: drinking enough water, or eating healthy - lack of oil or fluids in general can all dry out your lips. Concentrate on being healthy and i bet your "symptoms" will disapear. Stay positive and enjoy your vacation!

Hey abab,

Also, if you eat or drink something really hot, it burns the sensitive skin on the inside of your mouth and leaves patches that don't really feel like much pain-wise, but that you can see & feel with your tongue.

I've had oral HSV for 20 years, and have learned the difference between OBs, which are very, very painful and make talking, eating, swallowing, and teeth-brushing difficult; and the sores I get when I eat/drink something too hot or chew my cheeks in my sleep. They're different in color, and usually the sores one gets from hot foods etc. don't last as long.

Just a thought...

Chris

  • 4 weeks later...

yeah, well sadly im 99% sure i have oral herpes now. Ive had a white spot on the tip of my tongue that lasted about 24-48 hours, still no pain though. I also have small white patches on the inside of my lips and cheeks. I also feel the prodrome (slight sore throat, tingling slightly burning lips). The only thing I can say is DO NOT SHARE DRINKS WITH ANYONE! Doesn't matter who they are or if they have no visible signs of anything. There was no signs at all from the person I shared a drink with. And they only took one sip.

Also, let me know if those symptoms DO sound like herpes, because if im just experincing something like a yeast infection, im worrying over nothing really.

Thanks

I think that is the point. Two months you're stressing on this issue, and you still haven't asked an MD? We are not doctors here, and furthermore we can't see the lesions in your mouth. I'm not trying to be rude but shees. You have posted sooo many times looking for answers but you haven't looked the one place you should go - the DOCTOR.

oh yes, sure. Two monoths passed, yes, you could get an antibody test. You can find out this information calling a doctor or your planned parenthood clinic.

Hey @Lcj987 and welcome to the website. You can be sure that isn't HSV-2, looks nothing like it. It is much more likely to be folliculitis or inflamed fordyce spots.

Hey @JackThrowAway herpes causes an outbreak where it enters the body first and maybe a progressive spread. If it doesn't cause an outbreak at the entry site then it won't cause one elsewhere, it also won't 'jump' upon infection - it would be more likely that the lesions are continuous from the penis to the anus. Nevertheless, testing trumps symptoms or any interpretation of symptoms. The correct conclusive result arises when: you have a positive swab; or An IgG HSV-2 level over 3.5 (Herpeselect test).

Slept with someone unprotected, roughly 2 weeks ago now. I felt generally unwell the couple of days after but I’d been drinking the whole weekend and didn’t have much sleep either of the days of that weekend so put it down to that. 6 days after I noticed these spots appear on the shaft of my penis. Along with symptoms of discomfort in my shaft in the couple of days prior to them appearing. No pain when urinating at all that I have noticed. They don’t hurt, itch or tingle and they don’t have fluid in from what I can see or feel if I squeeze them and have never burst? I went to a sexual health clinic to get checked up, they took bloods to do a full test and looked at the spots but said they saw nothing that concerned them but I’m not sure about that, any advice? The smaller spots under the shaft are just follicles I had diagnosed years ago and non-sti related.

She tested positive for HSV2. No, there was nothing of that sort in that area.   However I also have ulcerative colitis so I’m on medication that makes me immunosuppressed. I have been bleeding a bit when I pass stools during the time of redness, so I’m unsure if I’m getting a flare from the colitis (from all the stress of everything) or if it’s due to the virus making it’s way to an already inflamed area and popping up as blisters that I can’t see and hence the bleeding.    I had two equivocal results (at 4 weeks and 6 weeks) that then went to a positive result (7 weeks after exposure). Combine that with some flu symptoms, redness, tingling etc. makes me feel it’s conclusive that this points to a hsv2 infection.
