How do I get rid of the odor after an outbreak?

Recommended Posts

CAP86

A couple days ago I got over my first really bad, traumatic outbreak. While I had it, there was really bad odor that I could smell. It would linger in the bathroom and in my bed. It made my boyfriend sick. Now that my outbreak is pretty much over with, how do I get rid of the smell? It's not as bad as it was, but it's still bothersome. There's all kinds of sprays, wipes, washes, & douches at the stores, but I just don't know what I should buy. Please give me some suggestions! What has worked for you. (BTW...I'm a female.)

You don't want to use a douche. If you have an odor, it's possibly bacterial vaginosis, a condition lots of women get during their first obs. It is treated with antibiotics, I believe flagyl usually. You need to go to the doctor and have them check for it and get prescription. Very common, especially with first obs.

Back at my postpartum check up, I was prescribed Nystatin for a less smelly odor I had...before I knew I had herpes. It is an antibiotic. I'm just going to use that since you mentioned getting an Rx for an antibiotic. I forgot I had it until you mentioned getting antibiotics. I looked it up online & I think it should help. Thanks!

Hi, Cap, your post concerns me for several reasons:

- there are different infections, you really should have it cultured before treating,

- having left-over antibiotics means you didn't take the full course as prescribed, right? Please don't do that again. You may not have cleared it up and it can create antibiotic-resistant strains of bacteria. Taking the balance of what you have left in the bottle without getting a prescription for the balance of the full-prescribed amount is not a good idea.

- All medicines from the pharmacy are automatically marked to throw away after 1 year (at least here) but for some medications it really is important not to take them past the expiration date.

Please talk to your doctor first.

The ashwagandha is good for thyroid health. I am not familiar with the rest. That is not a list I would put together!

Hey @moonperson it is not likely that you have given a genital HSV-2 infection to 3 of your friends or your boyfriend from any of the activities that you describe. I'm sure this is all fine. How did your new diagnosis come about?

Me too, me too, I hope you can reach you desired level of health... I just think it isn't fully fair in a way to imply that your unfortunate issues are caused by herpes when there is virtually no chance that they are.

Hello y’all, im newly diagnosed with herpes simplex 2 and I’ve given it to 3 of my friends and boyfriend. It migrated from my genitals to my mouth and I smoked weed with my friends via pipe without understanding my infection fully. Then my boyfriend told me it’s okay to kiss and give him head cuz he loves me anyway. He’s not a big chaser or nothing, he’s just dumb. I’m living in constant anxiety and a tumultuous emotional state—just seeing if anyone has similar experiences and tips/tricks you may have picked up on the way leaving with herpes, either strain. Honestly, I’m just needing some support, even if herpes is “common” and “manageable”, it has been a heavy heavy weight on my mind.
