I had unprotected oral sex with a week ago. Afterwards I noticed the girl had a cold sore on her lip.

Two days after exposure I developed a flu and fever. 7 days after exposure my lymph nodes in my groin have swollen up and are aching.

I have not had any noticable blisters, etc. However, I did notice these white bumps on the skin of my penis which I don't think were there before. They are kind of like the ones that appear at the bottom of a hair, but where they are there is no hair. They don't hurt or anything.

I have never had a cold sore before. I am scared to go get tested but suspect I have herpes.

If she had a cold sore on her lip and gave you oral sex, it's a good chance that you were exposed to the virus. This doesn't mean that you definitely have it though. The flu symptoms and swollen lymph nodes can indicate that you have contracted the virus. Sometimes when you have exposure to something contagious, you go online and read about it and worry yourself sick that you have all the symptoms. For now, I would try not to worry about it because there is nothing you can do about your exposure now. I know that's easier to say than to do : )

You will have to go to the doctor and get a blood test since you don't have any open sores that can be cultured. I think you may have to wait a few months to get a reliable result though. Someone else on this forum will have a more specific time frame, but I believe that it can take up to 3 months until you can be correctly diagnosed by a blood test.

If you do end up having herpes, it's definitely not the end of the world. There's lots of us here and you're in good company. Have a look around our board and you'll see that this virus is very manageable.

Let us know what you decide to do and good luck!

I am totally convinced that I have herpes and feel like it's the end of the world.

I am normally shy when it comes to meeting girls. However, now no girl will want me.

I have really stuffed up my life here.

The prophylactic vaccine trial by GSK took 8 years and they were still not done with it.  That's because it takes time to see whether it works--it's a matter of many people having sex over time and that just takes a lot of time.   A shedding study is quicker, so therapeutic vaccines are quicker to test.  5-6 years I think.  Note that there was a study conducted last year that showed that there's a high correlation between shedding and outbreaks, suggesting that it might not even be necessary to track outbreaks, measuring shedding may be enough. It's unclear what they would be proving in case of a gene editing technique.  I think shedding would be a part of it.  But what else, if anything, I don't know. Anyway, it doesn't necessarily have to take a long time like the GSK prophylactic trials.

I certainly hope this research continues. It all seems legit to me, but again, I'm no medical man (although I did play doctor a few times).

This is good information to know. To go from continuous outbreaks to none all this time is encouraging. I wonder if after you've given it some time and this regimen proves itself, maybe you could title it, and type it for everyone to read. The more suggestions, the better! You mentioned you've suffered with Herpes I outbreaks. I have suffered with the type II, and I recently read that Lysine doesn't help with the type II. I don't know about that, because it really has helped me in years past. Anyway, by mentioning in your article that you have type I will help, because apparently something might work for type I that won't work for type II. I myself will get these products and add them to my daily garlic regimen, and perhaps I will be able to eat whatever I choose without triggering an outbreak. That's my big problem, wanting to eat the foods that trigger the outbreak!

“..Meanwhile, the present study suggests LDXGFG as an alternative, inexpensive, and lasting-effect medicine for curing HSV2 infection caused genital herpes....” Anyone  seen any further research on this ?
