Ok heres the deal. My bf is H+ we have been seeing each other for 2years about a month ago I thought I was getting a yeast infection which I normally always do around the time of my period I figured this out cause we were gonna have sex and it felt like sand paper and we had to stop. 2 days later he had an outbreak which is very uncommon for him he has had maybe 2 or 3 the whole time we've been together. Anyway he then said you must be broke out and It irritated me and now I am so I then went into panick mode. Examining myself every 10 min. Around the area where I felt irrated which was pretty much my whole lips I applied zilactin. An oral herpes otc med bad idea it set me ablaze. Now my vaginal area is bumpy all the time little cycst like things I guess so then about a day after which was friday I saw what appeared to be dried tiny places kinda like those little cycst had ruptured or something possibly the overdrying of the zilactin. But I freaked out I went to planned parenthood to get a culture about 3 days after seeing the spots but there were never any blisters or anything that I could tell. I made the mistake of telling the gyn that my bf was + so then of course it couldnt be anything else to her but that even though she couldn't even find the little places I was talking about I had to point them out. I made her culture them and boy did she ever I've never been scrapped so hard in my life. I waited 1 wk and called results negative which should be the end of it maybe. Oh no I have over educated myself online and I now experience a constant prodome or something. It could be psycological but who knows My legs ache not in one spot it moves right back thigh then left but cheek then left leg all over me and I had been paranoid so I was taking acyclovir just occasionally. The legs and stuff have hurt for over a month now. Absolutely no blisters and today I am getting a little irritated down there but i just got off my period and I normally am I guess from tampon use. But there is no redness no blisters just leg pain and I have had a sore throat for 3 wks now. If I was experiencing prodome wouldnt I have an ob by now or have I possibly contracted hypochondria. Please help sorry for the long post but just needed to be detailed. Oh yeah the little thing I saw did not scab or anything either .

OK - are you using protection? if not, why not?

are you paranoid? maybe - but self medicating is certainly not the answer. Go get a blood test - see how that goes - but you are taking a risk being with him while he is positive. You need to accept that, or move on - or stay and use protection and lube.

The leg aching and butt pain sounds like prodrome. I have had herpes for 9+ years and never have had a positive culture (they will never get another scraper near me again, either). Chances are you have been exposed... but the thing I am responding to is using acyclovir occasionally, or whatever word you used. You shouldn't take antivirals sproadically because some viruses get stronger when these meds are not taken according to direction. Take it for the 5 days as directed, or take it as a viral suppressant, but don't just take one here and there, ok sweetie?

Ask your doctor about a new study about uninfected partners taking suppression therapy. I agree, you shouldn't take it here and there. But if it turns out you don't have it (you might try a blood antibody-specific test in 12 weeks to have a better idea), you and your boyfriend both being on suppression will help reduce risk of transmission. Good luck, and relax. I know that I can make symptoms manifest at will, and since you applied a foreign substance to a very delicate area, it would make sense that it would be difficult to discern what is really going on down there. Let some time pass, take care of yourself, get the blood test, and talk to your doc. Those are my suggestions.

Yes, but every married person who I found out about that has this waited 6-8 months into the relationship to disclose it. But maybe you're right. If I had told her 6-7 months in, she'd still have Googled it and flipped out, and maybe it would have been harder then. I don't know. I don't see myself going through this level of pain and rejection so easily next time. I really don't. I'm taking the meds. I use protection. It's been almost a decade since I've had it so I'm not worried about shedding or passing it on so easily. British studies confirm that the first 2 years are the most contagious and we're passed that. I'm just over this. I've never been in so much emotional pain in my life.

Is this herpes? I can’t find any pics that match this exactly and my symptoms don’t really match. I don’t have really any of the typical herpes symptoms other than pictured, so I figured it could be friction as I have recently been having a lot of sex with a new partner. Way more than normal. Started having unprotected sex about 3 - 4 weeks ago. These symptoms only started about 3-4 days ago. Felt burning in some areas and only some very few tiny red areas/spots appeared. Almost shiny in appearance. Seems to settle very quickly. They were only present for a day or so. Also had some very mild irritation after I pee but not during. This spot has 2 small red lumps that are now dry around the outside. It’s like it’s been rubbed off and the skin is dry and shiny underneath. It doesn’t seem to be lesion. There was no puss or any leakage, nor was the skin ever red under them. They also got better within a day or so. I still have red spots around but they are very small and not bunched together and some general discomfort but I feel it’s because I’ve touched it so much! Stressing a bit!  my research tells me friction burn/blister , Fungal ,herpes a bit of it all! I have no idea! Please help! Thanks in advance.

I’m going to force him to get tested ! Thanks for your help !

@EssenceL25 there really isn't a question mark around the source, it's your latest partner. The median time from infection to an outbreak of lesions upon initial infection is 4 days.  The only thing that isn't certain is the type I suggest.
