Why I might, why I might not...

Recommended Posts

12 days ago I had unprotected sex.

Why I might have herpes;

Im very stressed and concerned as i have small white head postules around the shaft of my penis. There is erythema at the base of each one. A few have healed and subsided leaving small red scaps.

Why I might not have herpes;

I went to bed late the night that I had intercourse, nearly 3am, and then awoke to use the bathroom by 8am the following morning. I noticed a single abcess on the base of the shaft that already had what looked I be a small scab. It looked more like an insect bite.

It healed a few days later and 2 to 3 days later 3 small bumps with small whiteheads appeared with general redding around the area. Its been a total of 12 days now and there is some general soreness, nothing I would describe as painful though. Two more small pustules have shown up around the area as well. There is now clusters, each seems individual although in the general area. Each looks more akin to a pimple rather then a fluid filled vesicle. I've since noticed 2 small singular ones on my chest. I have no fever, no real pain aside from local soreness if I apply pressure, and the area feels a little dry and itchy at times.

I'm very on the fence about having herpes, and extremely stressed about the condition as a whole. I'm writing this for piece of mind, but will be scheduling an appointment to a clinic within the next few days, regardless.

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Hey bewildered, I hope all goes well with the test results. I know its nerve wrecking wondering the unknown. I am newly diagnosed and am still trying to read up on as much info as possible. All I can tell u is there is so many wonderful people on this forum who have been very helpful. That's the best step to take going to the doctor. Good luck with everything and keep me posted!"Smile"

Typing this on an itouch without edit left the thread with quite a few errors.

I meant to state that there really are no tight clusters like many of the pictures and diagnosis show, nor do the pustules ulcerate.

I'm beginning to wonder if this might be some kind of baterial infection. Its so hard to be objective at this point.

Do you shave that area and is it possible that it could be folliculitis? Just askin'.

I do shave that area, near and or around it.

I did reference folliculitis and it's simply to difficult to tell, because many of the pictures show a larger outbreak pattern. I applied Polysporin (bacitracin) to the initial spot and it has since healed, while the others have not as of yet. I did not apply polysporin to these other areas.

It doesn't matter if it's a large area that's affected or just one hair follicle. Since you shave, then that could be the cause. Testing for herpes may not give you any answers but it will tell you what your status is at this point.

      ANd eight hours is on a surface...on a towel who knows. The eight hours was a quote off a thread a long time ago of worst case senerio. Obviously it doesnt survive double touching unless its some weird arse almost immediate thing off a shedding site and this is all WORST case scenerio. HSV shouldnt be treated with stigma...but for everyones well being it should be treated as carefully as poss. It is a highly contagious condition and can be difficult to diagnose and GP's will let you walk away thinking you are clear when you are not if you do not do your due diligence.

      I knew more about it than the specialists at the hospital I was refereed to.

      Thanks.

      I have seen your advise on a few threads and to be honest while I am over careful at times you are not careful enough. This can absolutely happen and people should be well aware of the fact to prevent it from happening. I supposedly have good immunity on labs too. You just cant tell who will pick it up. It can live on surfaces for up to eight hours and towels that are wet and warm and that make micro abrasions when rubbed on skin are ways that transmission that can occur. You will often find out more by spending many hours reading on threads than your doctors. SO no it doesn't always just involve a cut on the skin. How do you think people get it else where.

      So please DO NOT swear at me as this is a possibility and this person should careful tick all his bases before ruling it out, cos on the rare case it is I wouldnt want his life totally ruined. Cos if it gets everywhere your life kinda is.

      It's called caring.
