Last friday i noticed a little red irritated mark down there, like on the outside skin where hair grows. it didnt really look like an ingrown hair, so i kinda freaked out. i went to an std clinic tuesday and had them take a look. i tested negative for all the diseases like chlamydia, gonnorehea and that. but they told me the mark looked like herpes! but they couldnt diagnose it, so id need to get a culture or blood test done by my doctor. at the doctor thursday, she told me that she noticed by my chart that i get cold sores, and that usually people who get those have a harder time contracting genital herpes. then she looked at the small mark. she had to poke it cuz it wasnt open, and i told her it never really looked like a blister. afterwards i asked if it could be anything else and she said yeah but her gut feeling told her it was herpes, but it was so small she didnt know. its just about 1/4-1/2 the size of a dime, doesnt really hurt just feels irritated, it never felt itchy, and never looked like a blister. It also looks to be about gone and its only been a week. I dont find out until monday what the results of the culture is and im so scared and freaked out! is there anything else this could be? Thanks to anyone who could give me some hope...

Hi

I was just diagnosed a month ago and my circumstances were similar to yours. I had one small pimple-ish thing that really hurt, and I went to my gyn. He couldn't even see the spot, it was so small, and had to have me point it out to him. Said he wasn't sure if it was herpes, but did a culture because of the pain I'd reported. He said it could also possibly be an ingrown hair, or a small area of broken skin that got irritated. Unfortunately, my culture came back positive.

I hope you get better results. Regardless, try not to stress about it...if it is herpes, you can't change the results, you just have to manage it from this point on.

i just found out today the guy ive been with for the past month, (the only guy ive been with since last nov) got tested for everything, blood tests and all, and all of his results were negative. we had protected sex, cept once he put it in twice without a condom, and he performed oral sex on me quite a bit, and he said that they did some kinda test on his mouth to check it too. if his results are negative would i have a pretty good chance that mine are too? what is the chances of passing herpes to a partner?

That's great - you must be relieved. Try to learn from the experience and don't put yourself at risk again by having unprotected sex. I wish I could go back and get a second chance to NOT get herpes. You're in control - take care of yourself :D

Yes, but every married person who I found out about that has this waited 6-8 months into the relationship to disclose it. But maybe you're right. If I had told her 6-7 months in, she'd still have Googled it and flipped out, and maybe it would have been harder then. I don't know. I don't see myself going through this level of pain and rejection so easily next time. I really don't. I'm taking the meds. I use protection. It's been almost a decade since I've had it so I'm not worried about shedding or passing it on so easily. British studies confirm that the first 2 years are the most contagious and we're passed that. I'm just over this. I've never been in so much emotional pain in my life.

Is this herpes? I can’t find any pics that match this exactly and my symptoms don’t really match. I don’t have really any of the typical herpes symptoms other than pictured, so I figured it could be friction as I have recently been having a lot of sex with a new partner. Way more than normal. Started having unprotected sex about 3 - 4 weeks ago. These symptoms only started about 3-4 days ago. Felt burning in some areas and only some very few tiny red areas/spots appeared. Almost shiny in appearance. Seems to settle very quickly. They were only present for a day or so. Also had some very mild irritation after I pee but not during. This spot has 2 small red lumps that are now dry around the outside. It’s like it’s been rubbed off and the skin is dry and shiny underneath. It doesn’t seem to be lesion. There was no puss or any leakage, nor was the skin ever red under them. They also got better within a day or so. I still have red spots around but they are very small and not bunched together and some general discomfort but I feel it’s because I’ve touched it so much! Stressing a bit!  my research tells me friction burn/blister , Fungal ,herpes a bit of it all! I have no idea! Please help! Thanks in advance.

I’m going to force him to get tested ! Thanks for your help !

@EssenceL25 there really isn't a question mark around the source, it's your latest partner. The median time from infection to an outbreak of lesions upon initial infection is 4 days.  The only thing that isn't certain is the type I suggest.
