Recommended Posts

VanillaShake

I am so upset right now! it hasn't even been two weeks and ALREADY i'm getting my 2nd OB! I'm not taking Valtrex daily, my doc had just recommended I take it when I sense one coming on. I missed an entire week 2 weeks ago due to havng both Strep and the flu-like symptoms associated with my 1st OB. NOw I need to get to the dr to get another prescription for Valtrex, but I can't miss anymore time :( I can't believe two weeks and another one is coming. I can not live LIKE THIS!!

Hi Vanillashake, I'm sorry you are having another ob. Your body needs some time to build antibodies to help fight off outbreaks. The virus stays active in the begining and if this is in the same location as the first ob..it could be a continuation of the 1st.

It sounds like you got pretty sick. I would recommend taking immune boosting supplements and getting plenty of rest. Your body will fight this much better when it's as strong as possible.

I hope you feel better soon!

prescription

I would reccommend asking your doctor for a years script for the meds that way you have them if you need them. I agree you want to boost your immune system but I also believe the meds could be an outbreak shortner until you build up antibodies.....

I am all for 'all natural' but there is a time and place for modern medicine and the first year of outbreaks is THE TIME ...should you choose to go that route.

Wishing you well! You are not alone.

What kinds of symptoms are you having? I have had tingling and itching, but no sores, and I was diagnosed over 4 weeks ago. I am assuming this is just a continuation of the first OB and it is my body just trying to adjust to having this virus. It isn't nearly as bad as the first OB, so it is manageable. If you are having similar issues, it may be the same thing. I take lots of vitamins and Lysine and try to get plenty of sleep to keep my immune system healthy.

Thanks, all of you, for the support. Well all day yesterday I was really itchy in both of those spots, so I was checking it out last night and sure enough, 2 bumps started to appear. I'm calling the doc today to get a prescription. I'm trying to take an active approach in getting more rest, being healthier, etc. OH, and drinking less beer, just in case. It's hard for me to keep stress out of my life with some of the things I deal with at home, on a daily, but I am trying. Thanks, again, for all of your support. where can I get the Lysine and what exactly is it? I'm told Vitamin b1 and b12 also, is that true?

Hi, I got my 2nd ob 7 weeks after my 1st, I was so disappointed:mad:

The panel on the right gives information on Lysine, I take it, and I get it from either my local supermarket or health food shop. I also take Bvits to help with my immune system.

Hope you get some relief soon

You can get Lysine at a TON of places, like a local drug store, like CVS, Walgreens, or a vitamin store like GNC, or even places like Target or Wal-Mart.

I was diagnosed about 6 weeks ago and got the 2nd OB a month after the first. Thankfully, my doctor had given me a year's prescription for acycolvir just a few days before. I couldn't believe the 2nd came so fast and find myself dreading the next couple of weeks hoping I'm not going to have an OB once a month. Ugh!

I started taking Lysine in hopes of staving it off, but had to have surgery last week & got terribly sick from the pain meds so I had to quit taking the Lysine as I couldn't keep it down anyway. I'm even more concerned after the surgery because I know that trauma to the body in and of itself can trigger an OB.

I definitely recommend getting a year's prescription for your meds & to start taking the Lysine. My stomach has finally settled enough that I'm going to start mine again today.

I'm sorry you're already having another outbreak. If they continue this frequently you could consider taking valtrex every day for suppressive therapy.

Almost certainly that is not herpes. There are a number of diseases that can cause your symptoms, not all of them infectious. If you haven't done so already, go see a doctor as soon as you can.

Seems likely that you had an asymptomatic infection and now you are having very mild recurrences. Asymptomatic infection is by far the most common case, in particular for HSV1 positive people. It could be a genital reinfection with HSV1, unlikely, or most likely a new HSV2 infection, there is no way to tell without a blood test. It's been long enough for an IGG test but don't bother testing for HSV1, you can already assume you are positive and have been for most of your life. I don't know about how it is where you live, but where I live I don't need to ask any doctor to get tested, I can just go into a clinical lab and order the test for €40. If your test returns negative for HSV2, don't worry about putting her at any risk regarding HSV1, she will have the same risk from anyone else. Acyclovir cream won't do any good, you should stop it (it increases the risk of getting an acyclovir resistant strain). Otherwise, your recurrences are so mild and far apart that it isn't worth it to do any treatment for now, so don't be scared about your health, chances are it'll get better with time. Doing a little research, it seems that Amenamevir  and Pritelivir are definitely not chemically identical. How similar are these drugs really?

I have been working out regularly after being diagnosed in may with ghsv1.  First 3 weeks were awful but haven’t had any OB, symptoms at all since.  I also haven’t been eating as healthy as I should be.  Feel like I never had it. Hope it stays this way.  I think working out helps.  Just my view so far.

Based on current HIV treatment, I would imagine they will create a one-pill combo of pritelivir and valtrex and sell it as a daily pill. But once a week pritelivir + valtrex might also work in the meantime.
