Question HSV 1 or HSV 2? Which is worse?

Recommended Posts

Hey guys, I'm a little bit confused on the terms. I know HSV 1 ususally oral... and HSV 2 is genital... and I also understand that HSV 1 can be genital if oral sex was performed. However Can HSV 2 be oral? And if so, does it look different than HSV 1 in terms of cold sores?

I have cold sores... when I first got it it was your typical coldsore... one coldsore then another coldsore... but now its my whole lips swells up and little bumps pop up everywhere. It's like I have chicken pox on my lips. Aside from being tender and extremely swollen, it feels gooey. (Sorry for the graphic details).

I guess I'm just not sure... if HSV 1 affects the mouth differently than HSV 2... assuming HSV 2 can affect the mouth. If that isn't the case... then I must be one of those unlucky ones....

Also, which is worse? Having genital herpes or oral? I mean if I had one little coldsore I woudlnt mind... but in my case it would seem a little worse... almost better if I had genital herpes.

From what I heard HSV 2 is very uncommon and hardly ever reoccurs. That being said, I think it is supposed to act the same way in either location, as both strains are almost identical.

With HSV1 can I still get interment with my partner? How without passing it on?

go in and get tested have them draw blood from you to see? if your breaking out you can pass it onto your partner so i would go have it checked out.

If your eye was affected by HSV you'd be in intense pain and you'd be in the hospital on an antiviral drip.  It is likely a coincidence of timing, and something that you shouldn't overthink.  Definitely worth getting checked anyway since the eye is a sensitive area.

Hey all. I had an STD check while pregnant with my now 3 yo and it was perfectly clean, hadn’t had another one until a few months ago   I was sexually assulted about 4 months ago. Because of that I asked for all STD testing. My first HSV 2 IGG score came back at 4.00, I requested another 2 weeks later and it’s now a 3.22 IGG. Should I take this as for sure positive or would it warrant a WB at all? Is it normal for numbers to go down like that?   Ive had NO symptoms whatsoever, at any time     Also, condoms, guys what are the best ones that feel as natural as possible?? Any ideas?
