what causes vaginal discharge?

Recommended Posts

is discharge with herpes caused by usually having sores IN your vagina? I sort of had a discharge for a couple days - a week it was just clear but i got an internal exam and had no sores, so im assuming it wasnt herpes related becuase it makes sence to me that the discharge would be because of sores in the vagina and your vagina is trying to clean or make it better or w/e by having more discharge?

or is it actually the blisters causing the discharge?

I would recommend you wait 3 months and get a blood test

The most accurate test for herpes is a blood test. The test looks for antibodies to the virus and it takes your body 3 months to make them.

So unless you have another outbreak that they could do a swab test, I would recommend waiting 3 months and then having a blood test.

Good luck!

That's a really good question! It's a common theme here on the forum. It seems a lot of women experience a discharge after contracting genital herpes, some have vaginal infections. I kind of assumed it was from having a new virus and that was one way the body was trying to cleanse things up. It would be great to know the true medical reason for this?!

I seem to get discharge before and after an OB which is pretty regulary unfortunatley and no yeasts meds seem to help so beleive it is from the virus - hope this helps.

good question

I only get "outbreaks" internally, and i get discharge too. maybe its the bodies way of clearing it out? its wierd too unlike yeast or bacterial vaginosis (BV) anything like ive experienced but it goes away in a few days. information would be helpful!

I have had an almost constant dis-charge! no itching! after I was examined, the doctor said it was a yest infection. I went back a month later he said it was BV. I don't believe either. I like to believe it is just my bodies way of cleansing itself.

At least the discharge doesn't smell bad... I do believe it's a Herpes thing.

regret

because the virus is screwing up the ph in your vagina it doesnt know what its suppose to do, or not sure how to fight it, so your hormones and everything is affected,, its foreign to the body an dtryig to figure out how to fight it..

any sort of infection will cause a discharge, that's why it's hard to diagnose on discharge alone. just like most illness come with headaches...can't diagnose on discharge or a headache alone.

discharge

it's day 3 for my diagnosis and i'm with you.

i have no blisters. just discharge and slight irritated redness. a little...very obscure ache in my legs here and there.

originally i went to the gyno because i kept having weird yellow-green discharge. they said it was just a bacterial infection. twice. finally after two months of this, i went to a new doctor and they took a test and told me a few days ago that it's hsv2.

these have been my only symptoms for genital herpes. i took diflucan. had some other ovule treatments. the discharge looks more clear now but i'm still slightly irritated below. again, no blisters...yet? who knows.

i guess the point here is that apparently, everyone's symptoms manifest differently. progress.gif [url=http://www.herpes-coldsores.com/messageforum/editpost.php?do=editpost&p=122159]

I agree your post was very well written. I think I was speaking from more of a GHSV1 perspective as it relates to the oral virus so many carry and spread.   I too, before being diagnosed, was small minded and ignorat about herpes. But I believe it had to do with the way I was brought up. Looking back now I want to say it was because of my experience in college. I went to ASU, we are absolutely known for partying and STI’s. I was heavily involved in Greek life, and bascially if one person found out you had herpes your life was changed  socially and romantically. You were the girl/ guy on campus with herpes. A bunch of little 18-22 year old shits who didn’t give a flying F if you said HSV1 or HSV2. It was herpes. That’s all they were known for. Surrounding schools found out and people from your hometown found out. Maybe my generation sucks but that’s extremely sickening to witness and go through.  I now work in marketing with a bunch of people my age and older. There is a guy who disclosed and was open about herpes to a lot of us in the office and again, he was just known as the herpes guy. And no, not by me but grown adults with real jobs and education. Most likely those adults statistically had some strain of it too. But again these are my experiences. I know they are wrong now but who knows when the rest of the world will catch up.

Some more good news on crispr! Restoring cells to an uninfected state once a virus is destroyed. https://phys.org/news/2018-09-cells-uninfected-state-virus.amp Now if only they could remove this virus from each of us and fix the effective cells would be no longer a dream!

But don’t you have an oral HSV-1 infection? Condoms don’t protect against that?

Give it a try and report back to us. It's pretty safe vaccine approved by the FDA.
