Mild HSV2?

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone,

I am new here and just found out that I have HSV2 last month. My first symtoms included the following: itching at he lower part of my vaginal opening (Not crazy itching but some itching), around day 4 of this itching I placed a mirror to take a better look and noticed two very small fine cuts in that area (the cuts did'nt hurt with contact of soap or urine). The cuts were so small they were not easy to look at. I immediately began researching online and to my surprise, herpies can present itself in tiny lessions. I immediately went to my doc and she swabbed the lessions since I read this is where its easiest to diagnose. I had some blood work done as well. My doc gave me some HSV2 medicine and I took some of the pills but the lessions went away very soon about 4 days after they appeared and so did the itching in about a total of 2 weeks. The symptoms were never out of control, it was apparent something was wrong since I really pay attention to my health. I live a healthy life, I work out and take supplements (I'm big on aminoacid intake), so ofcourse I just started Lysine.

I know who infected me, my husband did. We were separated about 3 yrs. and decided to work out our marriage about a year ago. We have been together since and are only sexually active with eachother. He has an idea how he became infected (Drugs, alcohol, party party). Anyways, the same time I had these signs he had symptoms too. His symptoms were the same but more irritating from what he has shared with me. It seems it has cleared up and then comes back. I dont know if its related to him working 20 hrs. a day and not resting, being stressed out, drinks alcohol on the weekends and smokes cigarettes all day long. I don't know.

Well I just wanted to share my story and I'm at least happy that its not as severe and that I don't have anything else.

There are currently two Phase 2 clinical trials of the effect of valacyclovir (i.e. Valtrex) at the NIH and University Hospital in Umeå, Sweden respectively for the sole purpose of measuring the impact to Alzheimers of taking Valacyclovir in HSV1+ individuals. Anti-viral Therapy in Alzheimer's Disease https://clinicaltrials.gov/ct2/show/NCT03282916?recrs=ad&cond=Herpes+Simplex&rank=10 Feasibility and Effects of Valaciclovir Treatment in Persons With Early Alzheimer's Disease (VALZ-Pilot) https://clinicaltrials.gov/ct2/show/NCT02997982?recrs=ad&cond=Herpes+Simplex&draw=2&rank=11 We should have some compelling evidence by about this time next year as the Swedish study has been going since 2016 and is set to conclude in April of next year.  The NIH study is set to conclude in 2022 but either way, on simply the mounting causal evidence, I'm going to continue taking my antivirals.

It still sucks for those of us in our 40's. Granted you will have to deal with it a lot longer than I, but it still sucks.
