does herpes cause pelvic pain?

Recommended Posts

i understand that when a woman gets herpes inside her vagina or on her cervix it can me accompanied by pelvic pain and discharge. The thing is i have been examined internally twice and there is nothing but i have been experiencing pelvic pain that is worse some days and better the next for about 10 days now. I think i may have had a possible exposure when i was sort of on my period. could the virus have traveled up into my cervix and into my pelvis and infected it!? i dunno if that makes any sence:S but this is the second time this has hpnd in the last month and it usually lasts for a week n half or 2 weeks!?

I got pelvic pain before, during and after my obs, and I have seen others on here experiencing the same. I think its because hs lives in the nervous system. But just to be on the safe side, check with your doctor to make sure you haven't got pelvic infection.

Can you guys describe the pelvic pain? I get what I describe as vaginal pressure...feels like something is pushing from the inside. What does your 'pain' feel like?

I had like period pain, deep within my pelvic area, and down my legs and up my spine. Does that help?

Yes, thanks. Sounds different than what I often experience. I get more a pressure. Comes and goes and seems worse when I sit.

No, I don't get sores with the pain. I am suppressive therapy and don't get sores at all actually, just pain.

Does the 'pressure' sound similar to your or do you get more of the pain like GntiNh?

Mine comes and goes. Sometimes on and off for a week, sometimes on and off for a day. When I sit for long periods of time it seems to get worse.

well i went to the doctor today and he said it was PID

becuase he did a nasty test where he put 2 fingers in me and pressed down on areas of the pelvis and there was this one spot that sent SHOOTING pain throguhtout my pelvis and back. SO i am hoping that all my symptoms are PID related and not herpes related :( it does explain A LOT ive had the blood in the urine the random bleeding in between periods the back and pelvic pain... the only think i cant explain is the genital tingling :S but i think i may be making it up as a part of anxiety cuz this tingling lasts for like a week and i never get a sore. soo weird :| this is a very confusing process

Endometriosis

I have gone through a battle for 4 months relating to pelvic pain and other symtoms. I was treated for PID, but it ended up not being that, I got an ultra sound and a CT scan that came back normal and now I have to get a laparoscopy to confirm endometriosis. (which has very similar symptoms to PID)

I did ask the specialist if the herpes could be related. Because I have not had outbreaks, they told me it was highly unlikly.

If you are still having pains, keep fighting-dont give up even if you feel like you are going crazy! The laparoscopy can also be used to help relieve the pain symtoms. I think they burn the lining or something.

I agree your post was very well written. I think I was speaking from more of a GHSV1 perspective as it relates to the oral virus so many carry and spread.   I too, before being diagnosed, was small minded and ignorat about herpes. But I believe it had to do with the way I was brought up. Looking back now I want to say it was because of my experience in college. I went to ASU, we are absolutely known for partying and STI’s. I was heavily involved in Greek life, and bascially if one person found out you had herpes your life was changed  socially and romantically. You were the girl/ guy on campus with herpes. A bunch of little 18-22 year old shits who didn’t give a flying F if you said HSV1 or HSV2. It was herpes. That’s all they were known for. Surrounding schools found out and people from your hometown found out. Maybe my generation sucks but that’s extremely sickening to witness and go through.  I now work in marketing with a bunch of people my age and older. There is a guy who disclosed and was open about herpes to a lot of us in the office and again, he was just known as the herpes guy. And no, not by me but grown adults with real jobs and education. Most likely those adults statistically had some strain of it too. But again these are my experiences. I know they are wrong now but who knows when the rest of the world will catch up.

Some more good news on crispr! Restoring cells to an uninfected state once a virus is destroyed. https://phys.org/news/2018-09-cells-uninfected-state-virus.amp Now if only they could remove this virus from each of us and fix the effective cells would be no longer a dream!

But don’t you have an oral HSV-1 infection? Condoms don’t protect against that?

Give it a try and report back to us. It's pretty safe vaccine approved by the FDA.
