I am a monogamous hetero male who has has had the same sex partner for the past 3 years. Prior to that, I was celebate for 12 years. Threrefore I have only had sex with one person within the past 15 years. I trust my partner without question and she has never had any symptoms of Herpes. About 10 days ago, I experienced an itching in my left groin area that I passed off as jock itch. After it did not go away, I noticed a chaffing that progressed to 3 circular rashlike lesions. In about a week, I was in bed suffering from what I thought was the flu from which I am recovering as of this writing. Being curious as to the cause of my rash, I consulted this web site and discovered that many of my symptoms are consistent with those listed here. Relying on the assumption that I and my girlfriend have had no other sex partners for at least 3 years for her and 15 years for me, I am wondering if this virus can remain dormant for an extended period of time before it shows up. I will certainly seek medical advice as soon as my flu lets up but until then I would appreciate any information that anyone can provide.

yes it can lay dormant for years but what I would like to know is what is the longest amount of years before you get an OB.

If your eye was affected by HSV you'd be in intense pain and you'd be in the hospital on an antiviral drip.  It is likely a coincidence of timing, and something that you shouldn't overthink.  Definitely worth getting checked anyway since the eye is a sensitive area.

Hey all. I had an STD check while pregnant with my now 3 yo and it was perfectly clean, hadn’t had another one until a few months ago   I was sexually assulted about 4 months ago. Because of that I asked for all STD testing. My first HSV 2 IGG score came back at 4.00, I requested another 2 weeks later and it’s now a 3.22 IGG. Should I take this as for sure positive or would it warrant a WB at all? Is it normal for numbers to go down like that?   Ive had NO symptoms whatsoever, at any time     Also, condoms, guys what are the best ones that feel as natural as possible?? Any ideas?
