Outbreak healing?

Recommended Posts

I had my first big out break (i'v had paper cuts but never thought it was this, after two years i got a little sore) on the 4th. and just two days ago my sore started to go away.

How does this typically heal? The sore is gone but now there is a red, swollen bump like thing near the area the sore was. It looks like there is a line down the center of the swollen red bump-thing.

I'm just wondering how everyone else's outbreaks heal and if this is normal or not. I've heard that it scabs and falls off, but mine did not scab but just got smaller and now the skin is completely healed over but i'm left with this swollen bump thing.

thank you :)

I was dx on the the 7th of Nov and I still have noticed the red bumps. I am taking an antiviral acyclovir since being dx but I still have the bumps. Mine hasn't scabbed over either. I've been wondering the same thing you have why are they still there. I have read that it can take up to 14 days to totally clear up or as long as 6 weeks I hope it doesn't take 6 weeks that would be terrible. So are you taking any antivirals? If not I would probably do so because it will heal you faster. I also ordered dynamiclear but I don't have it yet but it is supppose to do wonders. Sorry I wasn't much help. Good Luck to you and I hope you heal all the way very soon!

Everyone is different

There really is no "normal" with herpes. It affects everyone else differently.

Have you been diagnosed by a doctor? Perhaps they could provide the information you are looking for.

Good luck!

There are currently two Phase 2 clinical trials of the effect of valacyclovir (i.e. Valtrex) at the NIH and University Hospital in Umeå, Sweden respectively for the sole purpose of measuring the impact to Alzheimers of taking Valacyclovir in HSV1+ individuals. Anti-viral Therapy in Alzheimer's Disease https://clinicaltrials.gov/ct2/show/NCT03282916?recrs=ad&cond=Herpes+Simplex&rank=10 Feasibility and Effects of Valaciclovir Treatment in Persons With Early Alzheimer's Disease (VALZ-Pilot) https://clinicaltrials.gov/ct2/show/NCT02997982?recrs=ad&cond=Herpes+Simplex&draw=2&rank=11 We should have some compelling evidence by about this time next year as the Swedish study has been going since 2016 and is set to conclude in April of next year.  The NIH study is set to conclude in 2022 but either way, on simply the mounting causal evidence, I'm going to continue taking my antivirals.

It still sucks for those of us in our 40's. Granted you will have to deal with it a lot longer than I, but it still sucks.
