12 weeks since risky encounter/odd symptoms come and go

Hi everybody,

thanks in advance for the help this forum provides...it is really useful.

This is my story:

I had unprotected sex with a female partner 12 weeks ago.

pretty much the day after i started feeling a weird sensation in my genital area...wouldn't call it pain, but more like a feeling something wasnt quite right.

It eventually changed to a numb feeling in my glans, and some soreness and stinging in my urethra.

I was prescribed one dose of Zithromax antibiotics, thinking that it might have been chlamidia, and put on a week of anibiotics to make sure all was clear.

symptoms didnt go away and persisted for a while(say two weeks), and eventually went away.

Then, about 10 days after a protected sexual encounter with another female and some drinking, the whole process came back...same symptoms, no obvious explanation.

I went and got tested at week 5 for Chlamidia, gon, and syph and they came back negative.

Had a HerpeSelect test and came back positive for HSV I(which i knew i had since i was a kid) and negative for HSVII (0.3).however the results specified it might have been a little early for the test to be accurate.

I then took care of myself for a week, withoutdrinking at all(i like to drink wine) and no sex/masturbation.

Symptoms went away, completely, for a while...until of course i started having sex again.

the symptoms are pretty much the same all the time and they evolve in a 10 days period , and last for about 2 weeks:

-an odd feeling in my penis:no pain, but i am more than aware something is going on

-numbness of the glans

-stinging/soreness of the urethra

-lack of sleep caused by the stinging and such.

I am conscious that a lot of it could be in my mind, but i have recognized a path that makes me think i contracted HSV2, and i am experiencing atypical symptoms.

I hope somebody can give me some advice...

I plan to go to a free clinic soon, since i dont have insurance.

Thank you in advance,

Brett.

please, somebody help.

I am going crazy.

I am scheduled for another blood test in the next few days.

i noticed small bumps on my glans today.

really small, non poppable and they dont hurt.

i have a major discomfort in my genital area, with a general feeling of "fullness", with some stinging and discomfort in the urethra.

I cant sleep anymore...i'd like for somebody to tell me if it sounds like HSV2.

What scares me is the fact that this is the 3rd time it comes back since my encounter 12 weeks ago, and it seemed to have been triggered by stress and sexual intercourse.

Please, help me.

The only thing you are going to be able to do is go to the doctor and see what the problem is. If there is something suspicious they will put you on meds. All of us here know it's stressfull but there isn't anything we can do as far as diagnosing you over the internet. Symptoms of hsv vary in people and it's really hard to tell what something is just by it being described on a forum. It could be hsv, it could be some other std. WE just don't know.

If this is your 3rd outbreak of...whatever it is, it's possible that its hsv. Herpes ob's are usually braught on by stress. Braught on by sex..i've never heard that. To be honest, if you have been suspicious in thinking you contract something 12 weeks ago why are you continuing to have sexual contact with people? If you have herpies (which can be spread, while using a condom, even without visible signs of an ob) or some other std, you are just spreading it. And there is definatly something going on in that body of yours.

So many men come here after weeks and weeks of symptoms, after contracting, after exposing several partners, wondering what they have. Your body is telling you something is wrong and it needs to be checked out immediatly. I'm not meaning to gender bash here but men really need to stop thinking "Oh it'll just go away if I ignore it" and GO TO THE DOCTOR at the first sign of a problem especially if they are sexually active with multiple partners and having obvious std symptoms.

My advice, keep it in your pants until you find out what the problem is. There is definatly something going on and it's not right to be out there exposing others to it unknowningly.

Good luck at your doctor's appointment, let us know how it goes.

thanks for the reply.

I went to get another blood test and will get results on monday.

The doctor who saw me thought it wasnt herpes, but trichomoniasis,

and gave me medications for it...hopefully that's what it is.

I will keep you posted.

I agree with Delilah's points 100%. And she makes an interesting observation about men: they can be hesitant to present to the healthcare system relative to women in some ways (unless its for viagra I guess). I'm aware of statistics around that.

Also:

Since the antibiotics didn't work, to me, that's evidence that it is likely viral based. Because you don't have pain, I'm just wondering about genital warts (HPV)....And yes, herpes outbreaks can be stimulated by sexual intercourse. This has definitely happened with me. Literally after sex I could feel an impending outbreak. It is a rawness and swelling sensation that is totally abnormal. Thankfully, this has much improved with medication and time.

Hi @WhatDidIDo2023, hopefully all is well with you and your significant other and are still together.   Did she develop any other symptoms after you mentioned her getting itchiness? Was it determined what you had was contagious? Most likely developed a fungal disease and caused her a yeast or uti

Hi @Luna 01 I really feel it is worthwhile obtaining a proper Herpeselect test given the outcomes of the home panel test. Regardless, your current symptoms are almost certainly not related to herpes. Hopefully, your doctor can assist in resolving these.
