Test for my bf?

I have HSV-1 genitally. My bf does not have H at all. Is there a test he can take to find out whether or not he is 'immune' to getting herpes? If we could find out, then I'm sure our sex life would be that much better!

Does anyone even know if there are such tests available?

Thanks!

Has your boyfriend actually been specifically tested for herpes simplex virus? How do you know for sure that he doesn't have herpes?

There is no such test and nothing I know of that states it's possible for people to be immune to contracting herpes simplex virus.

Hang in there,

He can take a blood test' date=' but from what I understand it will come back neg. if he has not had an OB[/quote']

Actually, many people out there have herpes and do not get outbreaks AND will test positive for herpes if they have the proper herpes testing done.

What led you to believe that a person will test negative if they don't have an outbreak?

Hang in there,

Angela

Re: Test of my bf

Hello WhirlyGirl,

Genital herpes is an infection of the genitals or anal area caused by HSV.

Your doctor can diagnose genital herpes by looking at the sores. A blood test cannot show whether your boy friend having a herpes outbreak, but it can show if he is infected with HSV.

Newer blood tests such as type-specific tests can tell whether you are infected with HSV 1 or HSV 2.

Hi @WhatDidIDo2023, hopefully all is well with you and your significant other and are still together.   Did she develop any other symptoms after you mentioned her getting itchiness? Was it determined what you had was contagious? Most likely developed a fungal disease and caused her a yeast or uti

Hi @Luna 01 I really feel it is worthwhile obtaining a proper Herpeselect test given the outcomes of the home panel test. Regardless, your current symptoms are almost certainly not related to herpes. Hopefully, your doctor can assist in resolving these.
