I have a question for the men on this site about your experience with your first OB. How did it start? The reason I ask is a guy that I dated (who eventually left me because of H) got the flu symptoms about 20 days after our last sexual encounter. I havent talked to him since so I am unsure if he has had any other symptoms but I was curious if you do get flu symptoms do you then definately get the other symptoms or could you get the flu and then have no other symptoms? I did tell him he should get tested since 1 in 5 have this but I am not sure he will. Anyone have any ideas? Thank you

I did not really notice flu symptoms at first. About 2 to 3 weeks after I know I contracted it, it was pretty obviously not the flu and I think he would realize what it was. I am just learning about the virus myself, but I thought somone said that inital tests could very well come back false negative. That said, I would think that if he notices blisters of any sort he really ought to get tested, and might really want to as well.

im new to this, but i never had any flu symptoms...mind you, im still being tested for it and im not sure that i even have it. i have red sores on my penis, they are not blisters, i have no discharge and i never have any tingling. im not even 100% sure i have herpes, but i figured i would become familiar with this chatroom just incase.

p.s. if you have any idea what I might have, please let me know

I unfortunatly got all the symtoms,have been tested...awaiting results but

they really will not make any diffrence.You really will know ..if your unsure maybe there's hope it is not.I have the sores..the headaches..flulike feelings...tingling/stabbing sensations that flucuate and move about my lower extremities..pain in urination..itching...oh..did I say ITCHING :cry: pain from the sores...

needless to say...if THIS is not herpes...then Damn..I'll seriously think of

removing sex from my life foreever.

      Hey @Zrozpaczona9 that looks like folliculitis to me, that’s independent of the question of herpes. The doctor is wrong in the sense that a negative IgG test is beyond reasonable doubt that you do not have herpes. It is a small percentage of people for which a false negative occurs. The doctor is right to take a swab to increase your confidence that there’s no herpes present. I’m sure you’ll have your result soon.

      Hey @WilsoInAus miałam dzisiaj wizytę u dermatologa, gdyż dostałam zmian w pachwinie, w trakcie wakacji nad morzem. Udałam sie tam ze zmianami w postaci strupów. Powiedział ze nie można wykluczyć opryszczki mimo negatywnego wyniku Hsv igg i zalecił wymaz z pochwy na Hsv i inne choroby. Wytłumaczyłam mu że zmiany zamieniają się w strup, ale nie ma w nich płynu, więc zalecił badanie śluzu pochwy na hsv PCR, zastanawiam się czy ma to sens, i czy wirusa można wykryć na podstawie tego badania w wydzielin z szyjki macicy.       Never had a history of Oral cold sores before, but have dated someone with them.  Thats very interesting about the test. This was my first full panel.  The large bumps have recently show up, its been about a few weeks when I noticed them. Again no pain nor fluids from them.
