Couple Questions... I might have herpes?

Hi all!

I was wondering if anyone could read my story and see what they think?

I had intercourse with this girl roughly 3 weeks ago. Then one of her friends told me that she had told someone that she had problems one time. Something about being red and itchy. I have no idea about the validity of these statements, but me being kind of a paranoid person, instantly started suspecting I had some kind of STD and generally herpes was my concern with the "red and ithcing" description.

I immediately called a local health place that offered free STD screening and I got a checkup about 1.5 weeks ago. I got my test results back and everything was ok. They said they didn't test for herpes because of the unreliablity of the test results.

My problem is that about a week after having sex i got a patch of red on my penis, right under the foreskin. (Yes I'm uncircumcized) This patch didn't hurt or itch at all and went away almost literally overnight, the day before my checkup so I couldn't even show the doctor. Then about 3 or 4 days ago (1.5 weeks after the first patch) I got another patch relatively in the same spot, with small barely visible bumps. They are so small I'm not even sure if they are actually bumps or just my normal skin texture. Anyways, there is a small amount of pain involved with them, hardly noticeable. But my legs and pubic hair region have been kind of itchy. The bumps specifically however do not itch at all and seem to be diminishly very quickly.

I am relatively sure I have oral herpes as I can remember having a cold sore at one point in my life. Could these reduced symtoms be the case of the gential herpes virus being fought off my some of my oral herpes antibodies? Or is this just how genital herpes works?

I also felt a little under the weather closer to when I was infected e.g. the first week, and I have been having some diaherra. But then again, diaherra isn't that uncommon to me because I am vegetarian.

I have been reading on the internet and I find the material to be confusing. It says some people don't have a first out break, or if they do it could be quite mild. But then people say the first out break is usually the worst. So what does that really mean? Does that mean that if I do have genital herpes this is the worst it's ever going to be? Because if it does, it seems like this isn't really any big deal at all, just the difficulty of explaining it to a new partner... Which I fear will come soon for me and be quite a disaster :p

One more question... Since my symptoms are so mild I doubt a active culture sample would even work for me and I beleive I need some kind of blood test. I would like to get a POCKit test, I hear they work in like 13 days or something, and are pretty reliable for hsv-2. I'm just not so sure where to get ones of these, is there a number I can call or something. I am 19 years old and wouldn't like to worry my parents that I have been having sex with sketchy people and might have contracted a STD if the worry is not existant. So I was wondering if anyone has any idea where I can get it? I am still on my parents insurance, can I just walk into a hospital and ask for one? Can I pay cash? Is there anywhere I can call to ask where a POCKit test is available? And to be sure how long should I absolutely wait to get this POCKit test?

Any how I would like any input at all about this!

Thanks in advance!

Hi @WhatDidIDo2023, hopefully all is well with you and your significant other and are still together.   Did she develop any other symptoms after you mentioned her getting itchiness? Was it determined what you had was contagious? Most likely developed a fungal disease and caused her a yeast or uti

Hi @Luna 01 I really feel it is worthwhile obtaining a proper Herpeselect test given the outcomes of the home panel test. Regardless, your current symptoms are almost certainly not related to herpes. Hopefully, your doctor can assist in resolving these.
