Well, hi.

My first outbreak was a month ago, and I am pretty sure I'm having my 2nd one now. I'm uninsured, so I had to go to an urgent care. I'm hating life.

Hugs LVAngel & welcome to the group.

Those early days are not nice. I'm having my 2nd OB now, thankfully it didn't occur as quickly as yours has.

Are you on anti-virals by any chance? If not, it would be a good idea to go onto them. They do help. I'm on Valtrex.

How were you diagnosed by swab and/or blood test? Do you know which type you have HSV1 or HSV2?

This is a fantastic website. Lots of info on the right hand side, pretty much everything you need to know. And of course you have this board to post on too. I think now that you've had 2 posts you may join the chat.

I didn't get a blood test, it was a visual examination and diagnosis. It lasted about a week or so, and I got a prescription for acyclovir which helped. I'm not completely sure if it completely went away before this little episode. I feel fine this morning, but I was really itchy last night.

I'm just wondering if it's the same outbreak or a completely new one.

I'm trying to get a hold of the doctor to see if they can call in a refill for me.

I'm so embarrassed. I hate this.

A visual diagnis isn't actually 'good' enough. You really need to have sores swabbed [if at all possible] and to have a blood test too. You may not have HSV at all!! If you do, you need to know what type & to have that confirmation that you do indeed do have HSV.

Where do you live? I'm guessing it's America? Is there a STD clinic near you?

Don't be embarrassed, yeah I know it's not a nice situation, but lots of people do have HSV. It still worries me though that you've only had a visual diagnosis. You really do need a swab and blood test.

Planned Parenthood is near me, and the Urgent Care I went to called for a blood test to confirm it, but I'm really out of money. Planned Parenthood is also expensive.

I know it's HSV. I don't need to spend unnecessary money on a blood test to confirm it. I just want to get rid of this outbreak as soon as possible.

I understand all of that LV, but what if something else is wrong? Therefore you would actually be wasting your money on treating HSV if in fact it isn't? I'm assuming it's genital?

Yes it is. It's basically the same symptoms I had a month ago, only it's not as unbearable. They prescribed me Acyclovir and it was cleared up within a week, but now it's back. I'm not quite sure it ever went away.

Yeah whatever 'it' is might not have gone away, I agree with you there. Such a shame there's no where you can go to receive free assistance, you wouldn't want to be dying would you?

Well, I've upped my Vitamin C and I'll be purchasing some Lysine tomorrow, so hopefully it will help. I've also cut down on my sugar consumption. Hopefully that will help.

Hey Angel, sounds like your on the right track. I agree with Kity to confirm with blood test, however I understand your finance and competent self aval also. My first OB was a nightmare, I was out of country, and though I was self diagniosing Syphilis or something. The medical guys said it was foliculitis but I knew otherwise. Eventually I got stateside and got a blood test and confirmed. My OB's are very frequent, like 1-2 times/month. But the severity has gone down to almost nothing. In November I started taking Lysine tabs, Vit C, no coffee, almost no proc sugars, no sodas...etc Really changed my diet. In that, I am also experimenting with the Blood Type diet to keep my body at its strongest and most health y state. Also, try Oreganol (oregano oil). I think it helps taken orally and topically but you have to be careful and learn how to apply it :-)...........and take it :-(.

you really should get a blood test. I know it's much easier said than done. Call planned parenthood and tell them your story. They are there for people LIKE YOU and will try to accomidate you as much as they can. A lot of people get all of the fees waved because they simply cannot afford them. CALL!

I was also diagnosed a month ago and it is scary as shit. I try to stay positive but there are moments when it's inevitable to be "hating life" (in your words). Don't hate life. You could have so many worse things. There is no 'antiviral' for cancer. You are not blind or deaf or have any other ailment. Embrace the fact that you will get an unwanted visitor every now and again (yay- another period). I remember being terrified finding out blood would come out of my vagina every month and thinking, my lifes over. It's not over, you will deal with this and soon it will be something that you hardly think about. Good luck and keep in touch, I would love to keep in touch with someone who was diagnosed around the time I was.

Are any of the generic brands of antivirals on the $4 Target or Walmart list? Also (and you may have already tried this), there are websites that offer discounts and coupons for medications. Look at MedicationCoupons.com. You might find something there. I also agree with DomKitty that you should get further testing (IGg type-specific) to confirm the herpes diagnosis. Good luck!

      Hello "NerdP423"..... well, you've certainly covered all your bases as it relates to testing for herpes.  And without question, the answer is clearly "No" you do not have HSV2.  Two Western blots and multiple swabs and IgG tests are all telling you the same thing... you don't have HSV2.  Also, almost all your symptoms are not remotely related to herpes.  I have not heard of anyone taking over a year, in spite of multiple testing, before they finally come up positive.... it makes no sense. I fear you may be obsessing on this virus and have somehow convinced yourself you have it.... despite your myriad of testing that says otherwise.  You need to try and calm your mind down as it relates to this virus.  If the symptoms you listed are still of concern, you should pursue answers from a doctor but, pushing for an HSV2 answer makes no sense at this point..... I hope you get some clarification on your symptoms but, again, you clearly already have your answer as it relates to HSV2.   Best of luck.

      Hi "Janiewayne"..... I'm sorry you got some not so good news regarding the virus but, glad you found this site.  How were you tested for the virus?  Was it a PCR swab of a sore/lesion?  It would be too soon to have an IgG antibody test if you believe your infection may have occurred as a result of the one night stand only a month ago.  Do you have a copy of the results yet?  Can you upload a copy so we can look it over.... sometimes things are misinterpreted so, it can't hurt to have others look over the results to be sure you have accurate results.  Have you had sores/lesions?  How soon after your sexual encounter?  Did they also test you for HSV1?  If so, what was that result. I know it's very unsettling (to put it mildly) at this stage.... but, I assure you, it will get better.  Never underestimate your ability to adapt to a new situation even if it's less than an ideal situation.  It is a relatively innocuous virus and only occasionally manifests and causes you any symptoms.... which can typically be drastically controlled with antivirals. I hope you will share your results and we can get an accurate accounting of what is going on.... take care for now.... one step at a time.

      Silly kids.  I find cheap healthy fix.  Fixes immune system.  Safe effective. .  I'm 20 years into health movement.  I finaly see it .       I only came back to help people . Sex is bad get married .  Go get 50 zinc pills,  vitamin A 10 000 and D3 5000.  Take 1 A and 2 D3 with a zinc .  You be way better.  From modern medicine with real doctor and hospital.   Build killer white t cells. They can kill viruses... cells get thicker and slippery so hard to infect and contain infection .  You feel better tate away .  Out breaks be way better . Even quicker to no smells they can create . .  Fights it inside the body ... when it comes out body attack kill it ... in year might be no more out breaks . 6 months you see huge difference most likely...  best medicine backed by science.  Cheap effective...  zinc is just chemistry thing. Keeps mouth cleaner killing bugs . Helps prevent catching things through mouth juices slime... just chemistry virus ant gonna like being around.    That simple.  Your lucky I came back ...  doctor has virus killing iv therapy he uses from 1930s from Germany.  Old family practice from his  grand father  at least.
