you cannot get it from a pipe. And you cannot just assumed and become your own doc to diagnose H you need to go see a doc and have him examine you. it may not be H opr it may be. Go see a doctor

I agree with Linda-go see a doctor. There are lots of reasons why people get "bumps in the mouth," and you should have your doctor look at it. If anything, it will give you peace of mind. Good luck!

I could be mistaken but I recall reading literature about how you CAN get the virus sharing a glass or a cigarette. So wouldn't one assume you can also get it by sharing a pipe?

Skin to skin contact is definitly how it transmits, however isn't the virus also in saliva??

I plan on making a post that states many of the so called facts about herpes transmission, because im hearing ALOT of contradicting information from several different sites and sources. I, like all of you, just want real answers.

One of my BIGGEST questions that still seems to remain unanswered without contradicting answers is: How long does herpes survive on surfaces outside of the body?? (I.E. towels.)

The three different answers i have read from various sources are:

A. it dies as soon as it hits the air

B. it can survive for up to 5 minutes on non poreous surfaces (sinks, toilet seats)

C. It can survive longer if wet (i.e. licquid makeup/foundation, lipsticks, chapsticks)

Im really sick of reading information that always contradicts from one source to another.

PLEASE some real answers (from perhaps tests performed in a lab) would be so helpful!

i know there is some kinda of thing our just by sharing something from mouth to mouth because my parents make me get a shot because they know i share drinks but it prevents what ever the thing from coming.

Thanks for your response! I received unprotected oral 10 weeks ago and immediately after had stinging in my glans and weird nerve pain. I am positive for HSV1 due to cold sores I got as a child, but as recent as 9 weeks after this exposure have tested negative for HSV2.    im nervous that I may have acquired hsv1 again on my genitals since HSV2 is rarely acquired from oral sex and doesn’t shed hardly at all, but haven’t seen any sores yet. Just weird symptoms and this started recently in my buttcrack when I was taking antibiotics.   Any advice or perspective would be greatly appreciated. @WilsoInAus

Hi @Throwaway765 and welcome. There is absolutely no concern over this being related to herpes. Something must be concerning you as to the possibility of herpes… what is it?
