four weeks into the primary OB and new problems just keep cropping up it seems

OK, I had all of the claasic first ob symptoms, I developed what felt like a flu about 3 days after sex. Then terrible pain genitally that made walking or wearing pants difficult (try explaining these oddities of behavior to your child btw...). I went to the dr. as soon as the pain started and she called it herpes right there on the spot, knowing my husband has herpes. She took blood, but the tests came back negative, most likely because of the newness of the infection. I was put on famvir right away. I have been taking famvir 3x per day for WEEKS now. The bad pain subsided after about a week and then lots of just feeling tender. I started feeling a bit less depressed and pitiful once the flu-like symptoms were gone also. I was starting to think I was out of this OB. NOW- either I am already into the second OB, or the first one didn't really end? I don't see any blisters, but am more tender. It hurts to sit down. The part that is really killing me though is this HEADACHE. I am on the third day of this intense headache. It kills me to move my head. If I stay very still it gets a little bit better. If I turn my head, look up or look down, the pain is amazing and then I am very, very dizzy with blurry vision. I called my gyno and she said this has nothing to do with herpes. She told me I have the flu. This is NOT the flu. It gets worse by the day. IDK if it has to do with herpes or not. If it is not any better in the morning I will go to a doc in the box. Anyone else experience this?-OH~ let me add too that with this immense headache, I have felt hot on the right side of my face with a faint rash that lasted just a day. I have bad pain in my right ribs and numbness down my whole right leg that comes and goes. Is it possible that my new herpes infection could have triggered shingles? I have never had shingles, but maybe the new infection brought my immune system down to the point of shingles wanting to come out? I have been on lots of antiviral meds so perhaps the shingles didn't come all the way out because of that? IDK. I am a mess and hate herpes of all strains!!!!!!!!

Did you ever have Chicken Pox? If not, then you don't have shingles.

You are going the proper think by soliciting professional medical advice.

I have never heard of herpes causing headaches. Perhaps it is the famvir that is causing them. Look at the information your pharmacist gave you about it. It will list all known side effects.

Come to the Chat Room. There you will find many nice Herpsters who can offer you their support.

Good luck!

I'm sorry for all the trouble you are having, margaux. I am curious if the doctor will say anything about shingles because this week I had a strange pain on the left side of my back for three days. My mother had shingles and this is the exact same spot where she had it. The pain seems to be gone today, but does anyone know if a "second round" of an outbreak of genital herpes can turn into shingles. I know the two are from the same family, and I did have chicken pox as a kid.

All my other symptoms from my intial OB are gone, except for some really bad itching at night in the general area where the sores were.

I hope the doctor can help you, margaux.

I get headaches often so I wouldn't notice if I had more or fewer that could be attributed to herpes. I never felt I had a headache that I would suspect of being directly related to the herpes.

I think I was lucky (if I can use that word) because I did not even feel very feverish during my OB, maybe just a bit on the first day. What I did get was a LOT of sores.

My back doesn't hurt today, but I'll admit I've become hyper-paranoid about every little ache and pain. It's not fun living this way.

Thanks for your response! I received unprotected oral 10 weeks ago and immediately after had stinging in my glans and weird nerve pain. I am positive for HSV1 due to cold sores I got as a child, but as recent as 9 weeks after this exposure have tested negative for HSV2.    im nervous that I may have acquired hsv1 again on my genitals since HSV2 is rarely acquired from oral sex and doesn’t shed hardly at all, but haven’t seen any sores yet. Just weird symptoms and this started recently in my buttcrack when I was taking antibiotics.   Any advice or perspective would be greatly appreciated. @WilsoInAus

Hi @Throwaway765 and welcome. There is absolutely no concern over this being related to herpes. Something must be concerning you as to the possibility of herpes… what is it?
