A little help please, I am really struggling

Hi,

Here is my situation

I am at sea, working on a boat and it will be 10 days till I am back in port. I had a sexual encounter with a woman on the 27th Nov. I got an itchy uretrha and some clear discharge about a day and a half/ 2 days after the encounter. Around this time I got some pretty severe itching around my rectum. I was at sea when this happened, and the ships medical officer gave me some antibiotics for Chlamidya and Gonnorhea. I took them and things seemed to get better for a day or two. Then I started getting an itchy burny feeling in my urethra and more severe itchy burning around my rectum. This persists with varying intensity and the itchy burny feeling is now around the entire head of my uncircumsized penis (this spread to the entire head happened at some time in the past 10 days or so) The itchy burny feeling is also in a circle of about a 1 and a half radius around my rectum. My penis has some small red bumps, but I have seen similar bumps to these before (without the severe itching and burning) I have had blood tests in the past for Herpes and was told the results were negative for both herpes 1 and 2. I looked as best I could at my rectum with a mirror but really could not see much except for some reddness.

On the 15th of Dec I was in port in for 2 days and saw a doctor who gave me a 10 day course of 2 very strong antibiotics to help clear up the urethra burning problem, but he did no inspection of me at all. I have been taking the antibiotics for about 2 and a half days and there is a little improvement around my rectum, but no improvement around the head of my penis.

Please offer any advice, i have nobody to talk to about this and I am just so ashamed and upset,

Is there any chance this is something other than herpes?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

There are many virus' & bacteria that can cause these symptoms so don't assume you are a member of our 'club' until you are diagnosed by a medical professional.

And if it does turn out to be herpes, dont feel ashamed and upset. I have had this many years and it means nothing to me. It has not stopped me from doing anything or anyone I wanted. Herpes, for the most part is a very common, mostly harmless virus.

Good luck!

thank you very much for the reply

I just wish I could get to a doctor, symptoms might clear by the time I get to port, and from what I am reading there will be no way to tell unless I get another outbreak.

I have a question that i cannot find an answer for on line.

I wore a condom and there was no contact between the areas i am experiencing syptoms and my partner... Does the infection show up where the contact was made? If so that would give me some hope. I did perform oral sex, but am seeing no syptoms on my face or mouth. Is that encouraging? I can't find the info anywhere on line.

Kind regards

Thanks for your response! I received unprotected oral 10 weeks ago and immediately after had stinging in my glans and weird nerve pain. I am positive for HSV1 due to cold sores I got as a child, but as recent as 9 weeks after this exposure have tested negative for HSV2.    im nervous that I may have acquired hsv1 again on my genitals since HSV2 is rarely acquired from oral sex and doesn’t shed hardly at all, but haven’t seen any sores yet. Just weird symptoms and this started recently in my buttcrack when I was taking antibiotics.   Any advice or perspective would be greatly appreciated. @WilsoInAus

Hi @Throwaway765 and welcome. There is absolutely no concern over this being related to herpes. Something must be concerning you as to the possibility of herpes… what is it?
