I'm trying to wrap my head around this. I'm physically ill over this diagnosis.

I met a wonderful man about a month ago and last week I week to the doc for what I thought was a cyst. I thought wrong! I don't know if it has been dormant in me or if I got it from him. But I'm blaming myself. I told him the next day (last Saturday). Here I am today. He's calling the dr tomorrow.

I'm praying that he's negative.

I said to him last week before all of this came about that everything was going so well, That I was just waiting for the other shoe to drop. It kicked my *ss!

I'm not angry I'm very scared and an emotional mess.

Any advice on how to get thru the first couple days?

it sucks. just breath. i know its lousy advice but that all you can do. it could be worse you know thank the heavens or whomever that its not. a great man once said this to shall pass. i hope you come out of this ok

its really scary at first.. im a few months in and i still flip flop about it, but in general- its not as bad as i had always heard about it being..

im sure some people have terrible experiences, but i havent, i didnt even know i had it, or at least what i 'felt' was it..

its hard to understand what to do with it, thats for sure..

i hope we can all help each other out with that!

I had the tingle last wed, tested on fri and it's already gone. From what I've read thats very unusual. So I guess I'm lucky.

My man is scared to death and I don't blame him. He was there when I got the call.

He did the best he could for me, but he's stunned too. I'm blaming myself. He says he knows it wasn't intentional and we'll deal with it.

This will be a very memorable christmas for sure!

      Hi @CathM if you received oral sex in the days before the sores first appeared then it is important to be sure of type - culture tests do not type. Ask to see your result and see what it says. Is your partner going to test? This is also helpful.

      Hello@WilsoInAus I only know that they took a swab and then I was notified that I was positive for HSV 2. I don’t know have any knowledge about whether it was a culture test?

      Hi @CathM and welcome to the website. Yes there is little doubt you were infected by this new partner. This would have happened 2-10 days before the sores appeared. There is one question to settle quickly. Was your swab test a PCR with a result of HSV-2 detected. Or was it a culture test?

      Hello. Just been diagnosed with HSV2 after a swab test. Absolutely devastated at the diagnosis. Had symptoms after sleeping with my new partner. Symptoms started about 6 weeks after our first encounter. Did I get it from him? We split just before the diagnosis. I feel like my life is over, please help 😥
