Hi, I'm new to this site. I am a 22/F from Chicago, IL. I am looking for some friends that I can relate to and who understands.

I was diagnosed with HSV-1 about 5 months ago.

Hi, welcome to the 'club'.

Were you diagnosed genital or oral? 80% of the adult population has hsv1 oral. And if you have hsv1 genital you are lucky, it does not like to be oral and you should not have as many outbreaks and it is much harder to pass it along.

There is a support group in Chicago, and if they have meetings I suggest you attend. The support group here in the ATL really helped me out:

Thank you for your response . I have HSV-1 genital so I hope there wont be a lot of outbreaks! >.<

Can I ask, how many (if any) outbreaks have you had since your primary outbreak? I believe I have hsv-1 genital also, and have heard that there may be less outbreaks, but I am afraid to believe this, as it might be too good to be true....

I have ghsv1 too, I've had it for a year and 7 months and have never had another outbreak, just recently broke up with my boyfriend of 3 years who had oral hsv1 but never genital although we never used condoms. How likely is it for me to pass ghsv1 on to a new partner? Really like this new guy I'm seeing
