Hello everybody =) so I am new to this online support thing but I wanted to try it sense I am the only person I know w genital herpes. Well besides the guy who gave it to me but we don't speak haha. So I am 21 and have been diagnosed for about a year and a half. Sense I have only slept with two guys I was very upset to learn I had this. To be honest I never came to terms w it till recently. I have recently started to date again but can't imagine how to tell a guy the I have herp when it seems like I always hear people make underhanded comments about it. I would really like to hear how yall deal w dating and life In general sense your diagnosis. Thanks

Welcome to the 'club'. There are many people you know with genital herpes, they just dont tell anyone.

And when you are at a point with a guy that you need to give the 'talk', don't start crying and say "I have something important to tell you". Just casually ask him if he has ever had a cold sore. Most people have, in fact 80% of the adult population has hsv1. Then tell him you get cold sores but not on your face. No on thinks cold sores are bad, and it is the same virus.

There is a support group in Charlotte and if they have meetings I urge you to attend. The support group here in the ATL really helped me out. On the list of links to the right click on "Herpes Support Groups" to find the one in your area.

Come to the Chat Room, there you will meet many nice Herpsters who can offer you their support.
