Transmission to family members

Hi. I have genital herpes, no cold sores, but I did have had a blister on my cheek recently. Can I transmit the virus with a hug, cheek to cheek contact, or a peck on the cheek? I am driving myself crazy with fear and guilt because I am newly diagnosed and it is Christmas and you know that means hugging and pecks. Thanks

Herpes is pass through skin to skin contact, so if what was on your cheek was a herpes outbreak then it means you have oral herpes and can spread it from any contact around your mouth.

However, just because someone has herpes does not mean they will automatically shed it with each contact. I have had both oral and genital herpes for many years. I have kissed and had sex with many women without passing it along.

Come to the Chat Room, there you will find many nice Herpsters who can offer you their support.

Good luck!

JB
