Just Dx - I needed this like I needed .....

I'm 48, already have fibro and a bunch of other chronic illnesses. Don't even know how I got it b/c I'm not even sexually active. Was seeing someone up until about 4 months ago (we broke up) but we barely even had sex when we were together, which was for 4 years, because of my physical health, but we were monogomous. Now this! It's too much. I can't handle it. At least it explains why I've been even more exhausted than I normally am, which is saying a lot. I have been crying almost non-stop since yesterday when I got that terrible phone call. I don't feel like there's anyone I can even talk to about this. I'm so embarrassed. I feel like I've dealt with so much already, but this just feels like one thing too many. I don't know what to do. Somebody please tell me this gets better -this feeling that I have right now.

It does get better, trust me. The longer you have this virus the more your body will take control of it. I have had it so long, I no longer get outbreaks.

Where do you live? There are many nice support groups out there. The one here in Atlanta really helped me out. There is a link listed on the right "Herpes Support Groups", click on it and see if there is one in your area.

Come to the Chat Room, there you will find many nice fellow Herpsters who can offer you their support.

Thanks. I will definitely be looking for a group in my area (Philly). I do think being a little bit older, it just feels more embarrassing to me. Not that I'm THAT old, just, I don't know, I can't explain it. I've already placed an order for Super Lysine caps. Hopefully that will help, and I'll be reading up on things I need to do with my diet to try to keep breakouts at a minimum. But it just feels like a lot to handle and what I really want to do is crawl into bed and not get out. (That actually doesn't sound too bad!) Thanks for the words of support, though. It means a lot to hear it from someone who has been living with this for so long.

what your feeling is very normal but it will get better in time. I know this is really hard to beleive right now. The next thing you need to do is to tell your ex he may been exposed to it. sense you have not been sexually active much and with noone but your ex on occassion my guess that he may have given it to you not intentionally perhaps he may not of even known he had it.

Yes Linda. I've been thinking about that - trying to get up the courage to make that phone call. Not looking forward to it but I know I have to do it.

I had to make that phone call too. I almost vomited because I hate the guy!! For all the reasons we broke up. I too was in 2 long term monogamous relationships; have no clue where I was exposed. No breakouts, but positive blood test. I am 53, and had ironically chosen to walk my "bi" side when I had all these physicals and got super tested. So, that is probably a no go, so I am trying to focus on that which I can control. Not that it really helps, but perspective is golden. On New Year's Eve, my son's best college friend, age 32 was killed during a flight in which he was instructing a 19 year old; also killed. I took my head out of my ass and still wonder why the Universe didn't snatch this contaminated old woman and leave the boy, but who am I to tell the Universe. We have this chronic "thing", but it is not like what Arizona is feeling tonight for that 9 year old little girl. Keep perspective. It will help the fibro when you seek calm and peace and keep telling the depression to go away. Plant the seed for your psyche to battle this little chinese star that has been hurled at us. Preachy, I know, but I am here to learn and help. By the way, 6 weeks after I told the man he might want to be tested, he got in another relationship. Oh well!!!!! She can have him!!!!!
