How contagious is HSV to oneself?

It says to not wear underwear or wear loose-fitting clothing during an outbreak. Ok. So for the past few days I have been sleeping in PJ bottoms ith n underwear-is it possible for the virus to rub onto the fabric and then infect more of my body- like my legs or butt?

ALso, can it spread through frabic? if i scratch myself through my clothes, can it still spread?

This is all so new to me and my hands are literally bleeding becuase everytime i think i touched myself in an infected area (even through clothes) i run to the bathroom and scrub them. someone please help! i know we need to take precautions but to what extent???

help!

Don't panic....I felt exactly like you do awhile back. Basically, just wash your hands with soap if you have perhaps touched an open sore before you go touching yourself elsewhere. From what I've read, the virus can only live for seconds once it has left the infected site.As to your first two questions,I beleive that would be a negative to either. If it was as contagious as you feel it is,we would all be quivering sore filled beings

hiding in our homes.

Hi @WhatDidIDo2023, hopefully all is well with you and your significant other and are still together.   Did she develop any other symptoms after you mentioned her getting itchiness? Was it determined what you had was contagious? Most likely developed a fungal disease and caused her a yeast or uti

Hi @Luna 01 I really feel it is worthwhile obtaining a proper Herpeselect test given the outcomes of the home panel test. Regardless, your current symptoms are almost certainly not related to herpes. Hopefully, your doctor can assist in resolving these.
