Confused Teenager, Doctor's low info diagnosis

Recommended Posts

Hachi

Alright well let me get right to it.

I'm 17.

I got my tests results back

HSV AB IGG 1 : 4.12 (Positive)

HSV AB IGG 2 : 0.57 (Negative)

My doctor told me nothing more.

It hurts to pee, but I took flomax and i've gotten relief (Tight Bladder).

I am a virgin, but have had unprotected oral sex 3 times.

I do not get many cold sores, I do recall having one or two in childhood

I don't know what I have, and unfortunately I don't trust my doctor

Questions? Concerns? Suggestions?

I'm scared.

While it is unlikely to get HSV1 genitally if you have had it for a long time, it is possible. It is also entirely possible that you have something else unrelated to herpes going on downstairs, but you thought to get the blood test now because of your symptoms. Don't be scared though, carrying herpes is very common.

Did the Doctor take a swab of the sores to have them cultured? Unless you've had it for a few months, the chances are high that a blood test won't show a positive result yet. If you think it's possible you were recently exposed, it would be wise to wait about 12 weeks and get another blood test. If that test says negative then chances are you don't have type 2.

I tested positive for HSV1 in the genital area in August last year.

I had a pap smear because of pain which I thought was a UTI and it was positive.

If it was a blood test, it could be that you just carry HSV1 but either way you'll need to go back to the doctors to clairfy I'd suggest.

Hope your doin okay :)

They may not cure HSV but it looks like they are taking positive steps against HIV : https://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/life-style/health-fitness/he alth-news/hiv-cure-soon-human-trials-underway-in-china/articleshow/70316379.cms   "Hopefully, the second-phase trial will be completed in the latter half of 2021, and the third-phase clinical trial may start at the end of that year, which will involve thousands of volunteers in a trial to test the effectiveness of the vaccine to protect people against HIV," the researcher added."...
