VHS-2 and mutual masturbation

Hi I have a question about herpes and sex.

If are having relations with a parter (you dont have VHS-2 but your parter has VHS-2) if you touch his/her genitals (wich have been infected by VHS in the past) and then touch your genitals.

Could you contract herpes VHS-2???

I mean contracting herpes by touching a "infected" genital and then touch an "uninfected" genital ??

PD: no oral, vaginal or anal sex are involucrated.

Yes you could. The virus spreads by skin to skin contact. Chances are good that it won't get through your fingers assuming you have no cuts or abrasions on your fingers. But the movement from your fingers directly to your genitals where the skin is a bit different opens the door more to a chance of infection. If there is an active outbreak on your partner then the chance is even greater.

Remember to be careful to not touch if u have a sore or cut on ur fingers or hands as u may contract it on ur fingers as i have it on one of mine which i caught from myself, Its really hard to say if u will catch it on ur genitals from ur partner depending on ur immune system and ur partners. If ur partner has an active ob id say b careful during these times. If u are jus masturbating each other then i think personally the chance of infection is less, way less possible this way than unprotectd sex. Dont worry about it too much :)

Great advice, Mr Honest :)

You can get a box of latex examination gloves from a chemist, which might be useful :)

As for a cross infection route, his hands touching his, can easily pass bodily fluid onto someone else by touching her/his partner. You can also pick up other stds present at the same time.

The worst scenario is, him or her suggesting this seemingly "safe" activity and end up taking it further (what a surprise lol). there might be some ulterior motives (?) if not with your case but in some ppl (?) who knows.

Thanks mrhonest. I think it was the way I got VHS-2. Because I have never had vaginal/anal sex, just mutual masturbation and oral sex. So I'm pretty sure mutual masturbation was the way I got VHS-2.

I'm sooo sad. The condoms company should not be saying condoms are 100% safe cause is not true, is a disgustiing LIE. You can get herpes even if you use a condom cause of the mutal masturbation. I'm so saaad, I haven't had sexual life since I got infected and have been 2 years since then.

I want my life back

So do you think mutual masturnation is a risk activity of getting VHS-2?? assuming a person just have oral sex and mutual masturbation (no vaginal or anal sex), how much dangerous it is??

I noticed more couples visit sexual health clinic together these days as more ppl are far more open about sexual health.

it seems more and more ppl learn quite a bit of no nonsense "facts" from this experience.

hfighter, maybe you feel this way now but you are much wiser, saner and better, you know. Do I keep hearing Men tend to have fewer symptoms than females (maybe, H reacts to female hormones?). That is a good news for Men. :D

Yes, most of us were led to believe that oral sex has been the safest of all conveniently. It's only recently that scientists started to find out that oral HPV may cause more oral cancer in Men who are also susceptible and smoke. Apparently, you can pick up other stds like gonorrhea from infected throat.

Thanks for your response! I received unprotected oral 10 weeks ago and immediately after had stinging in my glans and weird nerve pain. I am positive for HSV1 due to cold sores I got as a child, but as recent as 9 weeks after this exposure have tested negative for HSV2.    im nervous that I may have acquired hsv1 again on my genitals since HSV2 is rarely acquired from oral sex and doesn’t shed hardly at all, but haven’t seen any sores yet. Just weird symptoms and this started recently in my buttcrack when I was taking antibiotics.   Any advice or perspective would be greatly appreciated. @WilsoInAus

Hi @Throwaway765 and welcome. There is absolutely no concern over this being related to herpes. Something must be concerning you as to the possibility of herpes… what is it?
