PLEASE HELP!!! Will this OB ever go away???

Hello all. Like most everyone here, I certainly never thought I would be posting in a forum for people with herpes I've been completely and utterly devastated by this diagnosis. I'm having a very hard time coping with it and to make it that much worse, this outbreak will not go away.

My first symptoms occured nearly a month ago. I started noticing some minor buring with urination. The next day, I went to the ER because the pain became unbearable and I really thought that it was a urinary obstruction of some sort. The ER visualized the area and didn't see anything, so they treated me for a UTI and sent me home. Two days later, I was still having the pain, so I went to see my primary doctor and she saw the sores and diagnosed me on the spot, with a blood test to make sure. That day, I started on Valtrex 500mg twice daily. Sure enough, the blood test came back positive for HSV II a few days later. The sores became progressively worse, broke open with pus, and then started to heal, but never completely went away. I've had a myraid of symptoms, from severe pain in the lower back and buttocks that goes down the leg, to extreme fatigue and sensitivity and tingling in the vulva area. At one point, my doctor switched me to Famivir 250mg three times daily because the Valtrex did not seem to be helping. I took that for 10 days and then went back to the Valtrex at 1gm daily. I finally thought I was getting better--and then I starting having the pain in the buttocks and legs again and I broke out in new sores in the genital area. My doctor increased the Valtex to 1gm twice daily.

I've tried all sorts of herbal supplements and natural treatments that I've read about on here. I am applying lemon balm ointment to the sores several times throughout the day. I'm soaking in epsom salts and tea tree oil. I'm taking lysiene, garlic, red marine algae, and olive leaf supplement.

I am feeling so so depressed and down. I've seriously felt suicidal a few times because of this horrible disease and IT WILL NOT GO AWAY! It has almost been a month. Please help- has anyone experienced an initial outbreak like this? Will it ever go away? Will I ever feel normal again?

Hi Fitgirl,

I'm sorry to hear what you are going through. First off, please don't do anything drastic. Yes this skin disorder sucks but its not that serious to end your life over. I know how you feel because I've felt down and depressed and wondered what do I have to live for now but this is only negative thinking that leads to destruction. You have to know that this doesn't change who you are as a person and there are much worse things that you could be dealing with so choose life.

Now, I've been told that the first year is the worst and the severity of your symptoms should subside as time passes. The best thing you can do for yourself is to continue to take the antivirals since you are having bad outbreaks. Take ibuprofen for the pain in your back and legs. Take multivitamins eat, exercise, get rest, and try not to stress over it. I know its hard not to stress but if you can do something to ease your mind like pray, write, read a book. A good book to read is Battlefield of the Mind by Joyce Meyer. Most of all, please know that you're not alone in this. Lots of people are dealing with the same thing.

I know exactly how you feel and what you are going through. U are not alone and there is many of us that are going through exactly what you are going through, and feeling the same emotions! I have also felt quite suicidal and depressed since getting the devastating news that I have got it! I got my first systoms about 3-4 months ago. My first outbreak lasted 8 weeks and then it went away and then 2 weeks later i got it back again - and it lasted 6 weeks, I experience pain exactly the same as you, and too this day even though the blisters have finally gone I am still experiencing burning when i urinate! I am convinced i have nerve damage! I have received alot of support and advice on this website, which is helping me greatly, and u will recieve the same - I was crying every day and was so angry with my bf for giving me this, but it is slowly dissapating and I am on the road to acceptance of this virus! What does not kill us, makes us stronger! I still feel ashamed and do not like myself very much but i know in time -i will be back to my normal self! We will get there, this hell cant last forever! Just hang in there, and take a deep breath. This virus feeds off stress, so try and keep your mind busy with other things and hopefully it will finally go away for you!

One question: Did you use Oil of Oregano P73? If not, use that and let us know if it kills your pains and problems with hsv.
