Not Positive but not Negative

My DR said I have a positive HSV-1 but he can't say if I am negative on HSV-2. He said there were too many antibodies to say negative but not enough to say that is is positive and now I have to wait 3 months to take another blood test. Does that mean I have HSV-2? Why would I have any antibodies if I was negative? I have been getting yeast infection symptons every time I have sex and this last time I had some sores that he said didn't look like an STD. I am so confused? Can anyone help me?

My dr. told me that somtimes type-specific tests are inaccurate that way- that even if you only have HSV-1 it can cross over and show up as antibodies for HSV-2 (falsely) and vice versa;basically they aren't 100% accurate. I also have not really had any sores (knock on wood) just bumps and like you, feelings of a yeast infection-but from what i hear/what I have researched (I am still new to this) herpes is very misleading to diagnose because man times the "classic" blisters don't form, once I had a fissure that a different doctor told me was just irritation from discharge and I am fairly certain it was actually a result of the herpes. Hope this helps a bit (again I am sitll new to this)

I know that my culture test came back negative though the doctor said it was in fact herpes. For me the result was a false negative b/c there wasn't enough "sample" to test.

Herpes sores can look diferent then the ones your doctor has seen befor or the ones you see in pictures.

Take care!!

Hi @WhatDidIDo2023, hopefully all is well with you and your significant other and are still together.   Did she develop any other symptoms after you mentioned her getting itchiness? Was it determined what you had was contagious? Most likely developed a fungal disease and caused her a yeast or uti

Hi @Luna 01 I really feel it is worthwhile obtaining a proper Herpeselect test given the outcomes of the home panel test. Regardless, your current symptoms are almost certainly not related to herpes. Hopefully, your doctor can assist in resolving these.
