could this be herpes?

Recommended Posts

I have a slight fever, sore throat, feels like a yeast infection, and red raised bumps in between my legs. I'm not sure if it is herpes or not, but I tested an equivocal positive IgM for hsv about a little bit over a month ago. I don't know if I should consider this my first outbreak or not. Or if I'm confusing it with something else. Does this sound like herpes to you?

I posted this under another forum but I decided it better fits this subject instead. Please someone let me know if they have similar outbreaks or if you think this is something different. Thank you!

Well if you tested positive then I would say that you have herpes. You have a virus that is very common and mostly harmless. Typically the first outbreak is the worst, and yours sounds like it is not that bad. So you probably will not suffer from this much at all.

Don't let this limit anything you do or who you do. It is a simple little virus that almost everyone has in one form or another. I have had it many years and have lived a normal life.

Come to the Chat Room, there you will meet many nice fellow Herpsters who can offer you their support.

Good luck!

JB

I wouldn't put too much stock in an IGM result. I would go get a type specific IGG test to get a baseline, and then take another one 12 weeks from any exposure.
