New here!

Had a birthday on the 18th (22 now!), and guess what I get...lol

been in denial for about 6 months...oh it just razor burn, chapped and cracking lip etc.

yeah its chapped lips that happens in the same place every time lol. Don't care how or who I got it from or whatever. Another exciting chapter in thetechnician's book. Just wanted to say hello n everything....one question though. If anyone can give me a honest answer it'd be great. Here recently I've been slashing through all the red tape for joining the Navy. I have not gone to MEPS yet, its a entrance exam where they check you out, that sort of thing. One of the things is a blood test. Is this something that they will disqualify you for??? My recruiter is a douche and has a hard time returning calls.

Self diagnosed HSV 1 oral. I cant see it being a problem since almost everyone on the face of the planet has HSV 1 but, it is the government.

Hello again and thanks,

tech

Over 70 percent of the population has oral herpes. Having "cold sores" is probably not even listed on medical forms.

I think I read on a site that genital herpes was on a list of things that would deny entrance into the military but not oral.

Good luck, and thanks for wanting to serve our country!

Yeah thats what I figured.

Yup my whole family has served at one point or another, Marines, Air Force and now the Navy! I'm shooting for either nuke tech, or electronic comm. tech. With some kind of vehicle maintenance to fall back on (i'm a automotive repair technician).

Don't sweat it dude. If you start looking at the other guys standing around, you'll notice you're not the only one by far. Let THEM figure it out at MEPS. If the doctor gives you a clean bill of health, just keep that info and your chapstick to yourself. As long as you maintain a diet that promotes a healthy immune system and Abreva (it's phenomenal) on hand, you can keep your outbreaks down to a bare minimum. Some people get it less than twice a year. Either way, good luck to ya brother.

Doesn't this suck. Using protection and still catching this BS. Uggh, my life story!!

I think Dr. Jerome is just being cautious. I've followed what he's done and have 100% confidence in him. Predicting the exact number of years to a cure would be hard, but their last article about HSV makes me think it can't be too far off.

Did you ever find out if this was herpes or not?

@GotMeAtLast I doubt the doctor actually told you that, that doesn’t explain why you kept coming here looking for validation.  By your own admission, you have had oral HSV-1 for years. Further you have never swabbed positive from your genital region. Everyone is allowed to form their own conclusions on the basis of that truth. If you wish to conclude you have genital herpes, that’s OK. If I want to conclude you don’t, that’s OK.

It's been five months since possible exposure and keep having symptoms. I keep experiencing thigh and pelvic pain and thick discharge. Also get shooting pains vaginally and on my butt. I just saw a small white bump inside my labia and next to it is a small open sore. They don't hurt when touched but the rest of my vagina hurts when touched or sitting. Does any of this sound like anyone's ob? I got tested in October but I'm scared I tested too early and now having trouble getting a doctor to retest me
