So many questions....

Recommended Posts

SueP

Hi I've just been diagnosed with HSV-1. I contracted it thru oral sex with a partner who had no symptoms. I think he may have had a cold sore and then he performed oral sex on me and that's why I now have genital hsv-1. We still want to be together. My episode was mild and has cleared. If he only has oral hsv-1 can I now give him genital hsv-1?? I'm confused by it all.

Also, if he has no visible syptoms (whcih he doesn't) should he have a blood test done? I imagine he should.

If he does in fact have oral hsv-1 with no syptoms does that mean I can contract oral herpes by kissing him?

Sorry for all the questions but trying to figure out how to move on responsibly?

yes your bf should be tested. yes i do beleive you can get hsv1 by kissing him sense it in another area, ( i could be wrong but dont think so) you could not get hs1 1 in gentical area sense you already have it there.

Sue,

The following article helped me a lot to understand it all, it's honestly the best article I've found. I believe I too contracted genital hsv1 from a boyfriend who gave me oral sex and didn't have a cold sore at the time, but gets them every once in a while. I was in my early twenties and didn't know that you could get genital HSV 1. I also have oral HSV 1 and I attributed that to my mother who always had cold sores when we were growing up, but I don't get cold sores, though every once in a while I will get "ulcers" inside my mouth, which I thought was from too much acid from oranges or tomatoes. Anyhow, my blood test has shown HSV-1 positive. Here is the article http://www.herpes.com/hsv1-2.html I think it will help!

@WilsoInAus thanks for the clarification. I am currently taking into account all possibilities that i might encounter, since my fiance is positive HSV-1. I am preparing myself for the future, if I however eventually get infected from him. Im on the brink . We will have an appointment with a Doctor on friday, to justify more about this and I am so anxious of knowing what the Dr will say. I am scare it might effect my decision of marrying him. How I wish this virus could be kill, how I wish life hasn't be this cruel to us. The day for us to tie the knot is just around the corner, everything had been prepared and we are tested with this news. Im showing my support to him right now but deep down, Im sooo scared. It's truly an adventure

Note that it’s not an infection as we know it the eye, these are caused by bacteria. Sometimes though the virus will attack the cornea and cause issues. It is estimated about 1 in 50,000 people per year will suffer some vision impairment from HSV-1. However these people are almost always not treated with antivirals where success appears to be over 90% for preventing permanent damage.

Any advice?  I know this is an old thread but this is related to me. Would be so much relieve to be able to talk to someone in the same shoe. Hope you still buzzing around honeycomb

BHT has helped me soooo much! When I first got infected my outbreaks were constant .. one would heal up and there comes another ... it was terrible . I was so fuxking depressed and miserable. I cut out the “trigger foods” took vitamin c and lysine .. drank apple cider vinegar .. nothing worked until BHT!!! Now that I take BHT i rarely have Outbreaks. If I do it’s because I sometimes forget and skip taking it .. or I eat some trigger food + forget the Bht .. but even then my outbreaks are SOOOO a mild compared to before . I’ve had outbreaks that have disappeared in a day . Sometimes I up my dosage on BHT when I do have a mild outbreak , and apply topically. It really has been such a blessing to find out about BHT
