PLEASE HELP!! Concerned about pink blotch from oral herpes!

hi,

this is my first time on this forum but not my first time getting cold sores!

i'm quite worried/panicked because I'm 26 and have got cold sores fairly frequently all my life since i was little (2 or 3 times a year when i get colds/stressed).

about 3 weeks ago I got a REALLY big cold sore, not on my lip but near it, on my right side of my bottom lip. I put a liquid ointment on and it scabbed up fine, and i ran out of the liquid ointment and got a cream to put on it. I hardly picked it at all (as i usually pick at my cold sores somewhat but try not to!) i accidentally picked away the largest scab (and i can tell there is going to be a bit of a scar).

BUT anyways, it has been about 2 weeks or so since the scabbing has gone away and it has left an unsightly red/pink blotch on my face that hasn't gone away yet! i'm VERY self concious of it and i'm just wondering if it will be like that forever now? or will it fade eventually? i don't mind if i am left with a bit of scarring because that isn't as noticeable as a big red blotch!

At the moment I think i am still run down and have some kind of virus as my tongue looks very blotchy as well (like it has chunks out of it!) so i'm wondering if that is why the redness hasn't faded? Is this common?!?!

As i've said i've had cold sores all my life and as far as i can remember, they have all gone away fine even with picking(if for a bit of scarring that i can barely notice).

To begin with I was putting various skin healing ointments, and blistex and witch hazel (to help with the redness) with no avail! then I heard from someone that Vitamin E cream could help so i got that a few days ago. if there is any advice as to what could help i would be greatly appreciate it.

Can anyone please help and give me some advice and tell me i won't have the redness forever?!

Really Worried,

Arrawyn

I'd see a doc about the tounge problem.

For the red/pink thing I may be able to help.I have rosacea so my face gets red alot.I use a cream called Diroseal from Avene. You can probably ask for a sample of this any shop that sells it.It's a green cream that takes away the redness.you can probably also cover it with make-up.

Good luck!!

I have fair skin and therefore scar very easily. This used to bother me a lot when I was younger so I tried many things to get rid of scars. Vitamin E did not do much for me, but everyone is differnt. I have heard coco butter helps, but again, it didn't do much for me personally. The best thing I've tried is something called Mederma (don't know if spelled right)-my dermotologist gave it to me so I think you might need a perscription for it-its a gel that comes in a tube and you put it on twice a day and it helps fade the scarring. Also, if you are really selfconcious- for the time being you may try this make up called derma-blend its REALLY thick/heavy and I used to use it to cover some of mine, don't know where you can get it anymore though. Hope this helps you!

Hey @JS.245 and welcome to the website. The pictures aren’t that suggestive of herpes. Hard to tell from the pics what’s going on, but that could be a number of things. Are the larger bump bubble things persistent? What you have in the pics is hence independent of your herpes status.  The test results are inclusive - most people test over 5 if they are infected.  Do you have a history of oral cold sores?

Hey, just got a STD test a while ago after noticing these showing up at the base of my penis, but its been about 5 months since I was with someone and now these are showing up. It doesn't hurt nor do I have any other symptom that I know of. I'm trying to see what's up before I go to the doctors because I don't have insurance and I'm very anxious about the situation. the std test was expensive as is.

Just another set of supporting articles to a potential release date in 2024 giving hope to sufferers whom the standard of care is currently worthless: Promising Progress in clinical trials for Pritelivir (herpescureadvocacy.com) HSV Treatment Readies for Approval — Precision Vaccinations News

I have not found a cheaper source for Amenalief, and I've searched high and low. I have a thread called "Pritelivir at Last" you may want to follow as I have a strong belief that It may be available to the public in the summer of 2024 and as I find new info, I update the thread immediately. Now, may I suggest a combination of drugs that several others on this forum have found to be very effective over acyclovir alone? Myself and others have found that taking 40mg of omeprazole (Tagamet @dissolvedo2 ) with 1 gram of Valacyclovir in the morning and 1 gram of Valacyclovir in the evening alone for 3 days have had profound effectiveness at stopping outbreaks in their tracks. I'd like to remind you that I am not a doctor and at best I am personal researcher for what works for me. I @lw@ys share my findings with the forum in the hopes to help others alleviate their suffering. There is another drug combo that I have tried myself as well as others on this forum have tried and that I personally feel is a much more effective for myself. This combo is 1 gram of activated charcoal with 1-gram of valacyclovir in the morning followed by 1 gram of valacyclovir in the evening alone, again for 3 days. I have found that this has reduced my outbreaks to almost only once a year and they are mild at worse. Again, just a reminder that this works for me and may not work for you but I always feel that i have to share this with anyone that cannot get this virus under control so I hope my findings can help those of you who cannot achieve relief with the standard treatment alone. The stronger anti-virals come with risks and if I can help anyone avoid those risks then by all means I feel I have done some good in this world. I only ask that you let me know if either of these suggestions work for you so that I can document it in my notes. Good luck my friend!
