Oral sex with genital herpes

Recommended Posts

Hi Everyone,

I was diagnosed with genital herpes last monday. I've been with my boyfriend for 3 years, and he was my first sexual partner. He has never had any symptoms or outbreaks, so he had no idea he was a carrier.

I'm finally starting to get over my first outbreak and am thinking about future sexual activity. I would never be intimate during an outbreak, but what about in between? I'm concerned about transferring the virus to my mouth. What are the changes of that happening? Should we use protection during oral sex every time?

What do you guys do about this? Any advice would be appreciated!

Thanks!

If you're sure you got it from him, then give your body a few months to a year to build up good immunity to the virus - at least 3 months. During this time make sure you're giving yourself good nutrition (good food, with minerals and vitamins) and moderate exercise to optimize your immune function. Then, once your immunity is established, the chances of you getting infected orally will be slim to none.
