Hi there. I have recently been identified with H and I'm finding it extremely hard to cope. I left an abusive marriage to be with the love of my life. We dated 10 years ago and he's never left my thoughts. I feel like the luckiest woman alive to be with this man. We decided to get pregnant a few months back. I have 2 boys and have always wanted to try for a girl. At 9 wks in to my pregnancy I noticed blisters on my genital area. Being emotional and pregnant, I threw up and fainted. The man I am with had encountered some problems last summer when he was seeing this older lady.(who,incidentally, was a nurse) He saw a doctor on 4 occasions who misdiagnosed him with impetago, a staph infection, a yeast infection, and jock itch. I'm very frightened at the thought of any danger to my baby. I would appreciate it if anyone with any experience with this sort of thing could reply. I feel really isolated and worried. Did you have herpes prior to becoming pregnant?

I recently had a baby in December of 2003 and another baby last month. They both turned out fine and I had vaginal deliveries with both. Of course I was on suppressive therapy the last six weeks to prevent an outbreak during labor.

Overall ~ everything has been A-OK and I have a feeling it will be A-OK for you too!!!

The doctor I saw believed that this was not my primary ob. I got unexplainably ill before I was pregnant and had some pain around my perineal area. I believe this was my first ob. I dismissed it as possible tearing during intercourse.( when you go from a lousy husband to a hot boyfriend you get pretty enthusiastic) I haven't seen my regular dr since I was diagnosed and I'm really nervous about discusing it with him. He's always been so impressed with my great health...

Please don't be afraid to talk to your doctor about all this, ok? That's what their job is all about... making sure that we take care of ourselves.

Be sure and read the pregnancy section over on westoverheights.com -- that is going to be extremely helpful for you.

      Hey @Zrozpaczona9 that looks like folliculitis to me, that’s independent of the question of herpes. The doctor is wrong in the sense that a negative IgG test is beyond reasonable doubt that you do not have herpes. It is a small percentage of people for which a false negative occurs. The doctor is right to take a swab to increase your confidence that there’s no herpes present. I’m sure you’ll have your result soon.

      Hey @WilsoInAus miałam dzisiaj wizytę u dermatologa, gdyż dostałam zmian w pachwinie, w trakcie wakacji nad morzem. Udałam sie tam ze zmianami w postaci strupów. Powiedział ze nie można wykluczyć opryszczki mimo negatywnego wyniku Hsv igg i zalecił wymaz z pochwy na Hsv i inne choroby. Wytłumaczyłam mu że zmiany zamieniają się w strup, ale nie ma w nich płynu, więc zalecił badanie śluzu pochwy na hsv PCR, zastanawiam się czy ma to sens, i czy wirusa można wykryć na podstawie tego badania w wydzielin z szyjki macicy. Z góry dziekuje za pomoc
