i'm almost positive i have genital herpes.... but i'm a college student and i don't have the $100+ it would cost for me to get diagnosed....i don't want to tell my parents so i can't just go do it and explain how i spent the money. i want to be on suppressive therapy to treat the outbreaks and lower the risk of transmission, but can i get perscribed to it if i've never been officially diagnosed?? also, i would like to see a doctor but i'm not sure how to go about finding one. should i go to a primary/general doctor? do they diagnose those sort of things? or should i go to a gynocologist? are they even the peopel you should go to? i really would like to avoid planned parenthood or some kind of public health facility. i would get a job and pay for it myself but i'm a full time student, in a sorority, on my school's rowing team, and in student government.......... i barely have time to eat let alone work. i would hate to give up the things i love and have worked so hard for just so i can afford herpes medication. are there any other college students w/ the same problem?? please help :(

no, the school clinic's tests are even more expensive than planned parenthood/public health facility.. and no i've really looked and there's no sort of free std clinics in the area... tests for other stds are relatively inexpensive but herpes tests prices are crazy high

Honey you really need to be properly checked out by a doctor.Any kind of doctor will do the test and be able to say if it's herpes or not.I myself suffered with a few OB's befor I saw a doctor, like for about 2 years at least. It was a pretty dumb thing to do,but I was kinda hoping it was not herpes, that it go away and that it was "just nothing" and I was ashemed as well.

The sooner you are diagnosed the better.Your mind will be at ease, even if the test is positve,at least you know what it is and how to take betetr care of yourself. Also the sooner you take the meds the faster you heal and they say they work much better and you have fewer OB's in the furture if you take the meds the first OB.

You can not get a prescription for herpes meds unless you know for sure and the doc tells you that you have it.Go to any walk in clinic, hospital, planned parenthood or free clinic.Just go please. If you do go on meds it's usually for a short time between 3-10 days unless the doc thinks you need supresive therapy.

Good luck hun!!

Hey @Zrozpaczona9 that looks like folliculitis to me, that’s independent of the question of herpes. The doctor is wrong in the sense that a negative IgG test is beyond reasonable doubt that you do not have herpes. It is a small percentage of people for which a false negative occurs. The doctor is right to take a swab to increase your confidence that there’s no herpes present. I’m sure you’ll have your result soon.

In this forum we will discuss does lume work Lume is paraben-free and uses several natural ingredients like Aloe barbadensis leaf juice, tapioca starch, and Maranta arundinacea root powder (also known as arrowroot powder) to control odor and sweat. One of the key Lume deodorant ingredients is mandelic acid, an AHA found in skin care products, which also has an antibacterial effect.

Ibuprofen medicine is a painkiller. Can you take ibuprofen on an empty stomach  Some people take medicine empty stomach which is not good for our health. Because painkiller kind of medicine is very strong and can harm your liver. Medicine makes many strong ingredients. like Lactose, corn starch, hypromellose, sodium starch glycolate, colloidal anhydrous silica, magnesium stearate, sucrose, talc, titanium dioxide (E171), and carnauba wax.

Never had a history of Oral cold sores before, but have dated someone with them.  Thats very interesting about the test. This was my first full panel.  The large bumps have recently show up, its been about a few weeks when I noticed them. Again no pain nor fluids from them.
