In a web.....

Just found out I had genital herpes about 6 weeks ago, and I'm doing a lot better than I was at that time. I broke up with an awesome boyfriend because he moved and that seemed like the smarter move, and I was depressed so I participated in a drunken unprotected once night stand. Exactly 14 days afterwards had my first breakout.

Now me and my ex are talking again, and its HAUNTING me to tell him, because although it is likely he gave me the virus unknowingly, it is also possible that I could have gotten it from the sleasy gentleman after him. I have to tell him if I am going to pursue this relationship again any further. I don't know how to approach this situation.....any advice?

Have you told him about this encounter? That will probably be tougher than telling him you have herpes.

Ask him if he has ever had a cold sore, chances are he has and no one thinks cold sores are bad things. Then tell him you recently developed one but not on your face. Tell him you don't know if you got it from him or this other guy because you can get it at anytime and never have any symptoms. Then go ask him to go get tested to make sure.

If he does not have it, inform him that it is harder for a guy to catch it from a girl than vice versa. Then show him this link about transmission rates. As you can see it really isn't that easy to pass along:

Come to the Chat Room, there you will find many nice fellow Herpsters who can offer you their support.

Good luck!
