Female with VERY frequent outbreaks! please help! (TMI)

Recommended Posts

Hi. I think i have bad luck. I am a female and was diagnosed with HSV-2 in late Nov. 05. Its only Jan. 06 and i've had like 3 of them already! And they last for like 2 or more weeks each! I think i have an outbreak every time my period comes on AND EVERY TIME i have SEX! I have taken acyclovir for my first two breakouts, but this last one, nothing. And it lasted for like 2 weeks straight, and since my period is on, the others went away and more are coming. I havent told my bf, so what can i take to lessen the transmission. I get them on my outer lips, but some are on the inside. I dont worry too much about transmission because thats where the condom covers. But what if i get them somewhere it doesnt cover? So what can i take to lessen transmission. I did a stupid thing by having protected sex during an outbreak, but it wasnt that bad and he didnt notice bumps. Also, is coraphor worth paying $100 for? Is it that good? If not, whats good to halt my frequent outbreaks? It is hell! I know that boosting immune system is good, but what medicines and stuff? Also, is there some over the counter cream or prescribed cream that we can put on it when its itching and burning? When im at work, i cant take it! And im a waitress! thanks in advance!

Oh my....

first... you need to tell your boyfriend... he has the right to know... especially since you are having sex during an outbreak... and NO condoms are not 100% effective in preventing transmission....

second.... if you are getting your OB's during your periods or right after... talk to you gyn about going on a form of birth control that can be taken for 3 or 4 months and then give you a period... so this will cut the periods down to 3 or 4 a year... a good birthcontrol for this is the nuva ring.... low dose of hormones and you put the ring in and leave it in for 3 weeks... then replace or take the week off to have a period...

third... stress is another cause of outbreaks.... so try to relax.... and talk to your boyfriend about what is going on.. I am sure keeping this from him is stressful....

finally... talk to the doctor about what form of suppressive therapy would be best for you...

good luck... and be safe....

Thanks. I just think he will break up with me just because he wouldnt want to take the risk of infecting himself, even though he loves me. Because i wouldnt want to infect myself either if someone told me they had that, no matter how much i loved them. Its self-worth. I thought i gave him an std before and he went off on me, only to find out i didnt have nothing myself. I was wondering, if i dont wear any underwear, and my clothes touch my privacy and then another part of my body during an outbreak, can i reinfect myself somewhere else on my body, like my leg or thighs or something? Also, if i happen to touch a sore, then touch another part of my privacy where there is no sore, can it create a sore there? Maybe thats what happened. And can it pass through my underwear? Like if i scratch through my underwear? I dont know, but i feel tingling. I should start taking my acyclovir. Thanks.

P.S. It didnt hurt when i had sex. It wasnt really rubbing up against my sores. I just have to think of some excuses not to have sex during an outbreak, besides my period being on...it cant last for like 3 weeks, lol.

Hey. I ended up telling him, but not as planned. He found the pills in my purse and i lied and told him it was bc, and he was like no its not, lemme see. And i kept saying no and he kept trying to see, so finally i gave him the bottle and he read it and still didnt figure it out. So he got upset and i told him and he got extremely upset. He said its not the fact that i have it, its the fact that i didnt tell him, and i was allowing him to be able to catch it. He said i didnt care about him, which was wrong. He said i was selfish, and he was right. I was worried about him breaking up with me more than him catching it from me. So, he broke up with me. But i told him i really do care about him and begged for his forgive, and its like he wouldnt give. And he was visiting me from another state in which he lives in, and i dont have a number to call him out there cause he dont have a cell phone, and he only has my number. So i knew if he left i would never see him again, ever. He even said so. Then finally i burst out crying and he hugged me and said he wasnt going nowhere, he was gonna stay with me and he couldnt stand to see me cry. Aww! So, yes, i didnt think he would stay, but he did. And he said we need to get some counciling and find out more info. about it. And he's moving out here to be with me (we planned this way before). My next goal is hopefully, if he didnt catch it, to not let him catch it. Thanks everyone.

you know, I am glad all worked out for you and your boyfriend, however, you DID lie to him and that is not fair. Maybe there would be less that 1 in every four persons with this disease if their partners were honest from the get go. It IS selfish to not tell a partner. Don't beat yourself in the head over it, but in the future, you would be wise in being honest should you break up with your BF and have other partners.

I never use to have Outbreaks....so I was convinced that Iwas misdiagnosed. I met my current BF, we had sex once, protected, but then I was so guilt ridden that I told him my fears. He was very supportive. We were both convinced that I was misdiagnosed, again, because no outbreaks. Then when I was pregnant, I had a HORRIBLE outbreak. (and been having them ever since!) but I am glad that I was honest with him (almost) from the start. He has been very supportive and it has been helpful in having a partner who I can confide in and who is understanding. I KNOW of people who DO lie and hide there condition. I think this is criminal. If someone will hide Herpes, what else are they hiding? HIV? Hepatitis? This stuff is not a joke, although I have seen some posts here where folks take a real lackadaisical attitude about this disease. I repeat: this shit is not a joke! Sure it won't kill you, but it IS painful and psychologically damaging and HIGHLY contagious. Until there is a cure, people need to get real about what they are carrying.

Good luck to you and your boyfriend and I hope in the future that you make wise/careful/cautious choices.

Hi @WhatDidIDo2023, hopefully all is well with you and your significant other and are still together.   Did she develop any other symptoms after you mentioned her getting itchiness? Was it determined what you had was contagious? Most likely developed a fungal disease and caused her a yeast or uti

Hi @Luna 01 I really feel it is worthwhile obtaining a proper Herpeselect test given the outcomes of the home panel test. Regardless, your current symptoms are almost certainly not related to herpes. Hopefully, your doctor can assist in resolving these.
