Hi. I was wondering what can us women put on our sores when its burning or itching? Is there some type of cream or something? I hear alot of men say that they put stuff on their penis and they remain outbreak free for a while, but what about for us women? I have them VERY frequently. when one goes away, more come. Im currently on acyclovir, but what is the best type of medicine to make the sores hurry up and go away? Is coraphor worth buying? Thanks

Purell is a hand sanitizer, you can buy it in any pharmacy. I use the one with aloe and vitamin E. Just use a drop or two a few times a day (2-4 times). Snowwhite said she used it and the outbreak completely went away after two days of applications. Read her post.

Try it and let us know what happened.

Hi. Ok, i went to Walgreens and bought purell hand sanitizer wipes. It says for external use only. What if the sores are open and stuff, is it still ok? Also, will walgreens brand hand sanitizer work the same? Are there any side effects from using purell on your sores and when should you put it? Thanks.

I don't know very much about the wipes, I would suggest getting the bottle. It has a gel like consistency. I am sure they have it at the pharmacy. For myself, since using this therapy on a daily basis I have not had one blistery outbreak. The most I have had and I am not sure if it was an outbreak was a few red bumps, which went away after a couple of days of application of Purell. Others who have tried this therapy said they applied it to their outbreaks and noticed results very quickly.

I don't have experience with open sores and I would suggest you use this before you have open sores. Or the soonest moment you see a sore. The reason I feel that way is that because the Purell is mostly alcohol I imagine it would hurt when applied to an open sore.

If you are brave then try it. If it hurts too much try it the next time you see sores developing. Definitely use the gel and not the wipes. The wipes may tear the blister if you use them, and they may not leave enough of the product on your outbreak.

As far as it being safe, I asked my doctor and he said there should be no problem. All it is is an alcohol based product. Other hand sanitizers would probably do, but I like purell not only because I take the the Purell with aloe and vitamin E, but also because Purell is owned by Pfizer a pharmaceutical company who if this works would look into it and either test it for its effect on shedding or come up with a much more effective drug.

Thanks for the reply. I applied it to my sores (i think they are open), and now i have a smell to my vagina. Its kinda like burnt flesh or something. I know this is an effect of using purell, because i havent had it before. Im scared! But i will call my gyno and ask her. I applied the wipes once, which burned like hell, and stopped the itch for the night, but today, im itching and stuff again. Im just scared that if i rid the bumps off of my vagina, that it will come up in my thighs or something. I think that would be worse because i like to wear shorts and stuff. I dont know. Maybe i should try a different product, like coraphor.

I feel very bad that you had such pain, terrible in fact. I had a feeling if they were open that it would burn. I don't think your gyno would say that it is bad that you put on the purell, I think she or he will say that alcohol would burn. Hopefully, if you wash the sores the smell will go away.

Also Don't use the wipes use the gel, and use it 3-4 times a day (1-2 drops per application). If the itch goes away something is happening. Now if it is too painful to apply now let it heal naturally and next time apply the purell 3-4 times a day before the sore opens. It should go away quite quickly.

Let me know how it goes. I really hope you will find some relief very soon.

Hi @WhatDidIDo2023, hopefully all is well with you and your significant other and are still together.   Did she develop any other symptoms after you mentioned her getting itchiness? Was it determined what you had was contagious? Most likely developed a fungal disease and caused her a yeast or uti

Hi @Luna 01 I really feel it is worthwhile obtaining a proper Herpeselect test given the outcomes of the home panel test. Regardless, your current symptoms are almost certainly not related to herpes. Hopefully, your doctor can assist in resolving these.
