I kw that doctors & ect.. have strongly advised against having sexual intercourse during an outbreak or when symtoms (PRODROME) of an outbreak are present. And it has been advised against having sex even with a condom during these times.. as the condom may not provide protection from other areas not protected from the condom.

But while there are many people with herpes who follow these guidelines..(which is of course the safest way) there are some people who choose to go ahead & engage in sex with a condom, while taking meds.

Have any of you all with genital herpes, ever actually gone ahead and had sex with a condom while taking MEDS during the prodrome stage b4 the bump/sore emerged.. or an actual full OB? If so... what were your experiences & the results of doing this? Did u pass the virus on to your partner or not?

I would really appreciate some HONEST personal experiences. Especially from people who have had sex using a condome during the symptomatic/prodrome stage while taking (EPOSODIC) med's.. Thanks in advance...

That is when you are the most contagious... that is just dumb... not to mention it would have to be painful....

I respect your opinion. But this is directed to those who actually have. Also just to make this understood.. incase some people get it twisted.. I'm not advocating that anyone do this. Every individual / couple makes their own choices & decisions. There may be couples who have decided that they wanted to proceed while they were using med's during the prodrome stage minus bump/sore. So I am interested in hearing real experiences from anyone who HAS made this decison. I'm a person who perfers to hear & learn from all angles and prespectives... the good.. the bad..& the indifferent.

Also.. in the prodrome stage... there are people who experience no pain in gerneral.I am one of those people.

      Hey @Zrozpaczona9 that looks like folliculitis to me, that’s independent of the question of herpes. The doctor is wrong in the sense that a negative IgG test is beyond reasonable doubt that you do not have herpes. It is a small percentage of people for which a false negative occurs. The doctor is right to take a swab to increase your confidence that there’s no herpes present. I’m sure you’ll have your result soon.

      Hey @WilsoInAus miałam dzisiaj wizytę u dermatologa, gdyż dostałam zmian w pachwinie, w trakcie wakacji nad morzem. Udałam sie tam ze zmianami w postaci strupów. Powiedział ze nie można wykluczyć opryszczki mimo negatywnego wyniku Hsv igg i zalecił wymaz z pochwy na Hsv i inne choroby. Wytłumaczyłam mu że zmiany zamieniają się w strup, ale nie ma w nich płynu, więc zalecił badanie śluzu pochwy na hsv PCR, zastanawiam się czy ma to sens, i czy wirusa można wykryć na podstawie tego badania w wydzielin z szyjki macicy. Z góry dziekuje za pomoc

      Never had a history of Oral cold sores before, but have dated someone with them.  Thats very interesting about the test. This was my first full panel.  The large bumps have recently show up, its been about a few weeks when I noticed them. Again no pain nor fluids from them.
